Thousand Oaks Art Association (TOAA) will present $2,400 in cash prizes:

Best of Show:  $300

First Place:  $200 per category 

Second Place:  $100 per category 

Third Place:  $50 per category

Honorable Mentions:  ribbons

Note:  Awards are limited to one per artist per category.

 

JUROR AND JUDGE:  Rich Gallego.  

Rich Gallego is a well known, well respected, and very talented landscape artist particularly noted for his plein air portrayals of the natural world.  His art and a description of his inspiration and accomplishments can viewed on his website (www.richgallego.com).

 

ENTRY FEES:

•    First piece (TOAA Members)   $30

•    First piece (Non-members)      $40

•    Each additional piece               $10

•    Each Artist may enter up to 6 pieces for consideration by the Juror. 

•    A maximum of 3 pieces per artist can be juried into the show.

•    Entry fees are non-refundable and must be paid by the entry deadline.

•    Entry fee payment is via PayPal/credit card through Online Juried Shows upon submission.

 

SHOW ENTRY AND DIGITAL IMAGES:

•    Enter digital images online at www.OnlineJuriedShows.com no later than Friday, March 31, 2023.  

•    Entry and image directions are available under the “Image Help” menu tab on the Online Juried Shows website.  Submitted images must not include matting or frame.  Crop the photos to include only the artwork.  Be sure your images are right-side-up.

•    Image files must be .jpg and under 4 mb. 

•    Art-notes - An optional brief description of the artwork by the artist will be posted on the label beside each piece. Descriptions can include the artistic process, media, subject matter, location, intent of the artist, etc. The descriptions are entered online during the entry process and should be limited to approximately 300 characters.  The entry field allows 500 characters but long notes may be shortened to fit on the label.

 

ELIGIBILITY AND CONDITIONS:

•    Open to all artists 18 years of age and older residing in Southern California.

•    Work must be original, completed after 1/1/2020, and never previously exhibited in a judged TOAA show.

•    Artist’s original work only, including source material.  No copies or likenesses of another’s work including photographs, published works, or references not attributable to the artist are eligible.  Work painted under the guidance of a teacher is not permitted.  No posters.

•    Artwork must be Family Friendly and subject to board discretion.

•    All work must be dry, clean, undamaged, and properly framed or presented.

•    Artwork must be ready to hang.

•    Framed work must have wire hangers (no saw-tooth), ideally taut and mounted 4-6” or 1/3 the height from the top of the frame.

•    Framed work cannot exceed 6’ x 6’ x 3”.

•    3D work must fit through a 36” wide door.

•    Assemblage art and other large works must be set up by the artist with the Hanging Committee.

•    All work must be hand delivered (no mail-in) and must remain on exhibit until the end of the show.  Unapproved early removal will result in denial of entries by the artist in the following two TOAA shows.

•    TOAA members are required to sit the Gallery during the show.

 

SALES:

•    Exhibited work will be considered for sale unless indicated by NFS” on Entry Form.  Sales prices may not be changed.

•    A commission of 20% is charged on all sales.  No sales tax will be collected - It is the artist’s responsibility to include sales tax in the price and remit the sales tax to the Board of Equalization.

 

TAKE-IN and PICK-UP:

•    Take-in of accepted work is on Monday, May 1 from 4:30-6:30 p.m.  No late entries will be accepted.  All work will be screened for proper presentation and compliance to the rules. Any protective wrapping must be removed by the artist upon delivery to the Gallery at Take-in.

•    Pick-up is on Saturday, May 27 from 5-6:30 p.m. only.  Early removal is not permitted without prior approval.  You must pick up your artwork on May 27.  TOAA cannot store any artwork that is not picked up. Please make arrangements for someone else to pick up your work if necessary.   

 

LIABILITY:

Insurance is the artist’s responsibility.  The TOAA and City of Thousand Oaks cannot accept responsibility for loss, damage or theft.
