Before May 6, 2024 - IF you cannot hand deliver your artwork, shipped paintings must arrive to Phoenix Art Restoration Services, as Matzke Gallery does not accept shipped items. There will be complete information in your acceptance letter for this show. 

May 22, 2024 - Hand delivery of artwork to Matzke Fine Art Gallery

May 29-31, 2024 - 3-Day workshop with Andrew McDermott “Urban to Rural” to be held at South Camano Island Grange. Workshop info will be posted on nwps.org.

Saturday, June 1, 2024- Opening and Awards Reception for the Exhibition

Eligibility 

• Open to all pastel artists over the age of 18. All work is to be executed in dry pastel (hard to soft pure pigment pastels- NO oil pastels). Mixed media pieces must be 80% predominately dry pastel. Minimum painting size is 80 square inches.

• All work must be original in concept and executed by the artist in the pastel medium within the last two years. No collaborative work. No instructor-assisted workshop or classroom work is eligible. No instructor photos may be used.

• Work exhibited in previous NPS exhibits is not eligible nor are works that have won an award in any other international or national exhibition.

• Work must be originally drawn, not from digital projection or created on top of a base photo/print.  Any reference photos used must be your own, not made by any one besides you, the artist.

Submission of Entries 

Exhibition entry fee for up to 3 images is $45 for current NPS members and $55 for nonmembers. Entry fees are non-refundable and must be paid by the entry deadline. 

Artists may submit up to 3 images. 

Entry form must be filled out in its entirety. List sizes up to the nearest inch. Submitted images must not include matting or frame. Crop the photos to include only the artwork. Be sure your images are right-side-up. 

Before uploading your images, make sure they are smaller than 4MB, but at least 1920 pixels on the longest side at 72 dpi. Images should be in JPEG format, sRGB color space. Help in photographing your work and properly sizing your images can be found at: www.OnlineJuriedShows.com/help.aspx. Framing Requirements 

Minimum Framed size 12” x 14”            Maximum Framed size 48” x 60”

All work must be framed, professional in appearance and ready to hang with strong wire attached to flat metal hangers. Professional quality anti-reflective glass is highly recommended and permitted on shipped artwork by Phoenix Art Restoration services.  A label with the name of artist, title, price and contact information must be affixed to the upper left corner of the back of the painting. Work that arrives at the gallery with visible pastel dust or smudges on the mat or glass or a damaged frame will be pulled from the show. 

Sales 

All work must be for sale and realistically priced based on your own sales history. A 50% commission will be taken by Matzke Fine Art Gallery, so build that into your price. Once your piece is accepted,  NO CHANGES CAN BE MADE TO YOUR PRICE.                                     

Hand Delivery 

Paintings may be hand delivered to Matzke Fine Art Gallery & Sculpture Park at 2345 Blanche Way, Camano Island, WA, on May 22nd from 11am-3pm (360.387.2759 Karla Matzke, proprietor).  

Shipping Instructions  

Matzke Fine Art Gallery cannot accept directly shipped artwork.  You must send your art to Phoenix Art Restoration Services before May 6, 2024 and they will deliver your artwork to the Gallery. Complete information will be in your acceptance letter, or email annemknapp@gmail.com for a preview copy.

Disclaimer 

All reasonable care will be taken with paintings and submissions. NPS, its officers, volunteers and Matzke Fine Art Gallery shall not be held responsible for the loss and damage to paintings, frames or digital entries. 

NPS suggests that participants carry separate insurance as provided under individual contracts with shippers and receiving agents. 

The artist grants permission to reproduce work for publicity purposes, both in print and digital galleries. Copyright will be attributed to the artist. Entry into this exhibition constitutes agreement with all conditions set forth in this prospectus and Entry Form and is your commitment to participate. Your entry form is a legal and binding contract to deliver artwork that has been juried into the show. If, after being juried in, an entrant chooses not to deliver artwork, he or she may not enter an NPS show for a period of two years.
