2017 MBPAPA Members’ Exhibit

Eligibility: Monterey Bay Plein Air Painters Association (MBPAPA) Members who have paid their 2017 dues.
Image Submission: This is a juried exhibit. MBPAPA members may submit a maximum of 3 digital images of their work to “onlinejuriedshows.com” for the jury selection process. For further information on submitting images and to pay the $35 entry fee go to onlinejuriedshows.com, scroll down to the MBPAPA 2017 Members’ General Exhibit listing and click “enter this show.”
Entry form must be filled out in its entirety. List sizes up to the nearest inch. Submitted images must not include matting or frame. Crop the photos to include only the artwork. Be sure your images are right-side-up.
Before uploading your images, make sure they are smaller than 4MB, but at least 1920 pixels on the longest side at 72 dpi. Images should be in JPEG format, sRGB color space. Exhibit Description: The goal of this exhibit is to provide MBPAPA members an opportunity to showcase their work to the public and make connections to local collectors.
The exhibit will be held in the CSUMB @Salinas City Center (same entrance as the Steinbeck Museum) 1 Main Street, Salinas CA from May 5 to June 15th 2017.
We will have an opening reception on Friday May 5th from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. MBPAPA members and the public are invited to attend.
Exhibit Theme: “Steinbeck Country” Paintings by MBPAPA. This exhibit gives MBPAPA members a chance to display landscapes and seascapes of the Monterey Bay area that were so vividly described by this famous writer. Paintings are to be plein air images completed primarily en plein air.
Artwork Requirements: Each painting will be delivered to the show framed and ready to hang - including hanging wire. Be sure that the highest part of the hanging wire is at least 1 1/2 inches from the top of the frame, so that the hardware will be hidden from view behind the frame.
All paintings shall be delivered with the attached label specifying:
Artist Name
Painting Title
Medium
Size
Sales Price
Also please print the artist name on the back of the painting, stretcher bar or frame, so that we can identify the painting in case the label inadvertently gets detached.
Canvas size shall not exceed 36 inches in height or width
Please note: Painting shall not have been displayed in a previous MBPAPA show and should be available for purchase.
Juror: Paul Kratter
The juror and judge for this show is renowned plein air painter Paul Kratter. More information about him can be found at www.paulkratter.com.
Revenue from Sales: There will be a folder of contact information of the artists available in the gallery. Artists are expected to handle any sales themselves and agree to donate 20 percent of Sales Price of any painting sold during the exhibition to CSUMB.

April 27-28 - Notification of Acceptance
May 2 - 10am-3pm - Deliver your juror accepted and ready to hang painting(s) to CSUMB City Center, 1 Main Street, Salinas, CA (same entrance as the National Steinbeck Center) the University Gallery is towards the back.
Friday May 5 - 6:30-8:30 pm - Show opening reception at the CSUMB City Center, University Gallery
June 16 - 10am-2pm - Pick up of paintings
