Stan Sperlak, Juror/Awards Judge

Stan Sperlak is a signature member of the Pastel Society of America, the Maryland Pastel Society and a former director of the Mid Atlantic Plein Air Painters. His work has appeared in numerous books on painting, The Pastel Journal, The Artists Magazine and he recently authored “The View from My Easel”. He has been featured in New Jersey Network TV series on Artists. Sperlak studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and with Patricia Witt of the Barn Studio of Art.

Shipped paintings must arrive at Phoenix Art Restoration April 2-13, 2018, 10am-5pm, (the week before the hand delivery dates)

Deliver paintings to the gallery Tuesday through Saturday, April 17-21, 2018, 10am-5pm (closed Sunday & Monday)

Pick up paintings June 19-23, 2018, 10am-5pm (or call gallery to make other arrangements)

Submission of entries
Exhibition entry fee for up to 3 images is $35 for current NPS members and $50 for non-members.  Entry fees are non-refundable and must be paid by the entry deadline.
Artists may submit up to 3 images.  
Entry form must be filled out in its entirety.  List sizes up to the nearest inch.  Submitted images must not include matting or frame.  Crop the photos to include only the artwork.  Be sure your images are right-side-up.

Before uploading your images, make sure they are smaller than 4MB, but at least 1920 pixels on the longest side at 72 dpi.  Images should be in JPEG format, sRGB color space.  Help in photographing your work and properly sizing your images can be found at:  www.OnlineJuriedShows.com/help.aspx.  If you need help entering your images or are unable to, please email Help@OnlineJuriedShows.com or call 949-287-8645.

Limitations

Size: Minimum 20x16 or 16x20 or 320 square inches outside frame size.  
Maximum size 1408 square inches
, with outside frame size no longer than 44 inches on the longest side (example: 24 x36 with 4 inch frame would be 32x44 outside frame size).

All work must be framed, professional in appearance and ready to hang with strong wire and flat metal hangers. No work will be accepted with artwork glued, taped or in some fashion merely applied to a background. Work with visible pastel dust on frame or mat will be refused.

Professional quality anti-reflective glass is highly recommended. If shipping work, consider protection and safety of the artwork as well as shipping guidelines.
Plexiglass glazing must be professional grade to be accepted. Please include a note alerting the gallery that you have used plexiglass. Scratched, fogged or inferior plexiglass will not be accepted.
Work that arrives at the gallery with visible pastel dust on the mat or glass will be pulled out of the show.

Sales
All work must be for sale and realistically priced. A 50% commission will be taken by The American Art Company. The gallery will pay the artist two weeks after the show closes.

Eligible work
Artist must be 18 years of age or older. All work must be original in concept and executed by the artist in the pastel medium within the last two years. Work exhibited in previous NPS exhibits is not eligible. No instructor assisted (hands-on) work is eligible. Mixed media pieces must be 80% predominately pure pigment (soft) pastel.

Delivery of Accepted Work
You will receive all necessary exhibition information via email, including a copy of our shipping agent’s (Phoenix) shipping instructions and specifications. Works may be hand carried to the gallery or shipped or hand carried to Phoenix Restoration & Custom Framing, 17712-15th Ave. NE, Shoreline, WA 98155.

Liability
All reasonable care will be taken with paintings and submissions. NPS, its officers, volunteers and The American Art Company shall not be held responsible for the loss and damage to paintings, frames or digital entries.
NPS suggests that participants carry separate insurance as provided under individual contracts with shippers and receiving agents.
The artist grants permission to reproduce work for publicity purposes, both in print and digital galleries. Copyright will be attributed to the artist. Entry into this exhibition constitutes agreement with all conditions set forth in this prospectus and Entry Form and is your commitment to participate.
Your entry form is a legal and binding contract to deliver artwork that has been juried into the show. If, after being juried in, an entrant chooses not to deliver artwork, he or she may not enter an NPS show for a period of two years.

Deadline for entry is March 5, 2018.
Notification of acceptance will arrive by March 21, 2018.

Stan Sperlak, Juror & Awards Judge
Stan Sperlak will instruct our pastel workshop, “On Becoming A Better Pastel Painter” in conjunction with the show on May 2-4, 2018 at Donna Trent Studio, 83rd Ave Ct. NW,  Gig Harbor, WA 98335. Cost for the 3-day workshop is $378 for all participants.
