2018 Judge     Larry Moore

Larry Moore has been painting since the mid-1980’s and in his own words ‘have only recently started to feel like I am in the early stages of figuring it out.  It is a lifelong journey, this figuring it out thing.’ Larry’s background is in illustration where he has worked in almost every imaginable medium and style with the possible exceptions of egg tempera and marble!  He has a huge passion for nature, having grown up on a river next to the ocean with only islands and wildlife behind his house.   Painting the great outdoors is Larry’s way of giving homage to nature and perhaps being able to give the viewers of his paintings a reminder of what was and what could still be.

Larry has been the recipient of numerous top awards in art shows and plein air competitions from the mid-1990’s to the present in places as diverse as Maui, HI, Easton, MD, Carmel, Monterey and Laguna, CA and Bucks County, PA.  He has won the Society of Illustrators, NY Gold Medal.  His work has been featured in Plein Air Magazine, American Artist Workshop Magazine, and American Art Collector.

Judging & Awards
Bath County Plein Air Festival awards $8000 in cash prizes plus merchandise awards.  The festival judge will select the three top paintings in the exhibit ($1000, $750, 500) and the Best in Show for the Gordon F. Ferguson Memorial Award ($1000).  In addition, the public votes for one painting for the People’s Choice Award ($1000) and the artists select another artist for the Best in Show Peer Review ($1000).  There are also a few special awards given:  The Donald S. Lewis, Sr. Memorial Award ($500) and Best Architectural, Figurative, Nocturne, and Vista ($500 each).

Lodging
We have a number of generous supporters of the arts who have indicated that they will open their homes to visiting artists.  All juried artists will be placed in private homes.  If you select to find your own housing, you must let us know by August 1, 2018.

ARTIST’S AGREEMENT
I have read the foregoing Prospectus and by entering and paying for this Entry Application, I agree to be bound by all terms set forth therein, including participation in the week-long Competition, the Farm to Table Dinner, Exhibition & Sale, the Awards Ceremony & Sale, and the Small Painting Sunday Sale.

From October 1 through October 7, 2018, I agree to sell no paintings while the event, Bath County Plein Air Festival, is going on unless 50% of the selling price is paid to the Warm Springs Gallery.  I understand that the Warm Springs Gallery will conduct all sales.  I hereby give Warm Springs Gallery permission to use images of work that I enter into the Bath County Plein Air Festival competition for publicity purposes. I understand that I will receive credit for any such reproduction(s) of my work.
