Prospectus

 

Exhibit your exceptional artistic works at the historic Shakespeare Club in Placerville, Ca. the heart of Gold Country. Anticipated awards are $4,000 in cash, gift certs. and merchandise, including $500 for Best in Show.

LOCATION:   Placerville Shakespeare Club, 2940 Bedford Ave, Placerville, Ca. Exhibition dates August 5 to August 19. Open daily 10:00 to 4:00, except Aug. 5 opens at 12pm.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

June 18, 2018   Final entry deadline –  OnlineJuriedShows.com  (until midnight Pacific time)

Week of June 25  Accept/Decline notices are emailed to artists and also available on OnlineJuriedShows.com  website.

July 30 - August 3  Shipped entries due.

August  3-4  Hand-delivered entries due.

August 5  Show opens at 12 with presentation by judge, Frank Ordaz  at 1:00 pm.

August 19  Awards reception at 3:00 pm.  Show closes 4pm. 

Pick Up Artist’s that hand deliver their works must pick them up
after the awards reception on August 19 until 4:00 pm,
or on Monday August 20 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am.

Shipped, unsold works will be returned within two weeks
after the end of the show.

JUROR/JUDGE OF AWARDS:  Frank Ordaz attended the University of Southern California and graduated Art Center College of Design in 1980. He began painting for George Lucas's Industrial Light and Magic where he worked on such Academy Award-winning films as E.T., Return of the Jedi and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Frank was recognized with an Emmy for his matte paintings in the Ewok Movie.  He also for 15 years worked as an illustrator and painted over 100 book covers as well as illustrated numerous children’s books. Frank is currently active in the art community in Auburn and is a member of the Auburn Arts Commission.  The Ordaz Gallery in Auburn features his landscapes and portrait paintings.  (ordazart.com)

AWARDS:      All awards are made at the discretion of the judge. All awards are final with no exchanges or substitutions.

ELIGIBILITY: Open to all artists, 18 years and older.

SIZE LIMITATIONS: Two-dimensional works must not exceed 72” total of two adjacent sides with frame. Diptych and Triptych entries must be in one frame, not exceeding the above dimensions. Sculpture and 3D must not exceed 50 pounds. All hanging pieces are not to exceed 25 pounds.

MEDIA: watercolor, oil, acrylic, alkyd, pastel, pen & ink, pencil, charcoal, collage, photography, digital imagery, mixed media and 3D.  Work must be original, less than three years old and not shown previously at a Mother Lode Show. No prints, copies or reproductions will be accepted. Accepted art must be the same as submitted on line.

PRESENTATON: Works must be framed, with the exception of canvas on wide bars ie. gallery wrap, and these should have the edges painted, or if photography or digital, the image should extend around the edges. All pieces must be ready to install with backs of paintings wired and taped. No saw tooth hangers or screw eyes, clip frames or plastic box frames. Plexiglass strongly recommended for all shipped paintings. PAA reserves the right not to hang works that do not meet these guidelines. No art in the show may be removed before the close of the show.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY: Entry into this exhibition constitutes agreement with all conditions set forth in this prospectus and forms and is your commitment to participate.

ENTRY FEES: Up to 5 entries may be submitted of which only 2 may be accepted. Cost is $40 for up to 2 entries; $10 for each additional entry. Entry fees are nonrefundable and due upon entry. Fees are the same for PAA members and non members. All entries must be made at OnlineJuriedShows.com.

ENTRY FORM:  must be filled out in its entirety. This entry form is considered a contract. List sizes to the nearest inch. Submitted images must not include matting or frame. Be sure your images are right side up. Before uploading your images check that they are smaller than 4MB, but at least 1920 pixels on the longest side at 72 dpi. Images should be JPEG format, RGB color.

One image of each entry will be accepted for 2D work. 3D art entries will allow up to 3 images per piece

ORIGINALITY:  Work copied from images, paintings or photographs, regardless of copyright issues, that have been published or appeared on the internet, DVD or any other publication or that are likely to be published in any format whatsoever shall not be eligible. It is permissible to gather and use multiple images, paintings, or photographs as resource material to create an original composition. It is permissible to use photos from an individual that you personally know, with their permission, providing the individual is the source of the image, and the image is not rendered as an exact copy and meets the criteria stated above. The artist must provide the original source image or written permission upon request if a question arises about the originality of the work. Any work that cannot be verified will be removed from the show.

All paintings done under supervision, mentorship, or in school and, or instructed class, workshop, online instruction, published step by step instruction, DVD, or any other form of instruction is not eligible. Any work shown to be part of any instruction as defined above will be removed from the show.

Accepted paintings must be identical to the image submitted for entry. No substitutions, copies, adjustments, repairs, or any other modification to the painting is allowed after entry images are submitted.

SHIPPING: Accepted art being shipped to this show must have prepaid return shipping and arrive at designated location by August 3. Additional instructions, shipping address, unpacking and repacking information will be sent to accepted artists. Artists will be responsible for the cost of crating, handling and shipping artwork to and from the exhibition.

LIMITATION OF LIABILITY: Artwork will be handled with the utmost care, however, Placerville Arts Assoc. as an entity, its members/volunteers, nor the Shakespeare Club or their employees or agents will be responsible for any loss or damage to frames or art works. Glass is used at the artist’s risk and the artist is responsible for replacing broken glass etc. By submitting an entry, the artist is agreeing to all conditions stated in the prospectus. PAA suggests that artists carry separate insurance. Permission to reproduce the artist’s work for PAA publicity purposes is deemed given by the artist with both the entry and acceptance of their work.

SALES:  All artwork must indicate a sale price, of which only one may be listed as “not for sale” (NFS) in the entry information. A commission of 30% of the sale price will be retained by PAA. Charge card sales will be accepted on the last day of the show and will add estimated 3.5% card fee.

NOTIFICATIONS:  are sent by email. Please be sure to read your letters in their entirety. Acceptance letters may ask you to RSVP or have special instructions to follow. Please add Services@OnlineJuriedShows.com and Manager@OnlineJuriedShows.com to your safe senders list to ensure notification.
