JUROR of SELECTION: TERRI FORD

A native of California and alumnae of the Academy of Art College, Terri “discovered” the beauty of pastels in 1987 and has worked with them ever since.

Terri paints both in the studio and en plein air.  She is drawn to the landscape in varying light and conditions. Her paintings are representational, with some more impressionistic and others more realistic. She travels to Europe and Mexico frequently to paint but is still constantly inspired by the natural beauty of the local California landscape.

Terri’s pastel paintings have gained national and international recognition. She was awarded the title “Eminent Pastelist” by the International Association of Pastel Societies in 2012. She is a Master Pastelist with the Pastel Society of America and “Distinguished Pastelist” status with the Pastel Society of the West Coast, and the Pastel Society of New Mexico.

Terri’s work has been featured in many art publications including Fine Art Connoisseur, American Art Collector, American Artist, Plein Air Magazine, French art publication Pratique des Arts, The Artists Magazine, and “coffee table books”, Art Journey America, Best in Pastel 2010 & Plein Air New Mexico. Her work has been featured on the cover of Pastel Journal.

Most recently she was featured in the French art book “40 Maîtres de Pasteles”

Terri was the Guest of honour for the Art du Pastel France Giverny International Pastel Exhibition 2017.

Terri is a popular instructor both across the US and abroad and is asked to jury and judge many exhibitions.
