PROSPECTUS 2018 Online Juried Show Application Date:  opening date 29 March 2018 – 1 July 2018 closing date

 

Each year, the IALHA hosts an international art competition celebrating the Iberian breed.  The IALHA invites artists to submit works that celebrate the breed’s exceptional and unique beauty, history, culture, versatility and traditions. 

 

The winning entry is selected using an online juried process and is used in the IALHA National Championship Show marketing and advertising.  This year we are seeking to increase our outreach. 

 

The 2018 competition will choose a Grand Prize winner for 2019 which will be promoted for the entire calendar year by IALHA and will be featured at the National Show in Oct 2019 in Texas.  

 

 

ELIGIBILTY

 

This international competition is open to all artists working representationally or abstractly in 2D. 

 

ENTRY RULES

 

1.               Entries must be representational or abstract work(s) of any 2 D media excluding photography.

2.               Work(s) must be original and completed within the last three years.

3.               Application may be submitted from 5 March to midnight on 1 July 2018. 

4.               12 finalists will be chosen for an online show.

5.               The 12 finalists will be showcased on the IAHLA Facebook site and website.

6.               There is no size restriction on artwork, but the winning art work must be gallery wrapped or appropriately framed and ready for hanging.

7.               Acceptable mediums for painting:  Oil, acrylic, water media, pastel, egg tempera, encaustic, mixed mediums.

8.               Accepted mediums for drawing:  Conte crayon, colored pencil, graphite, pen & ink, scratchboard and hand pulled prints.

9.               Not acceptable mediums: 3D, jewelry, photography, digital prints, collage, any work containing computer generated elements of any kind, prints, textiles or fiber art.

10.         Maximum entries: Three entries per artist.

11.         One piece of artwork per artist will juried into the online show.

12.         The Grand Prize winner will be selected by the IALHA board from the 12 finalists.

 

LEGAL AGREEMENT

By submitting images to this juried competition, the artist accepts and agrees that the 12 finalist images may be displayed on the IALHA website, the IALHA Facebook page and all other social and/or print media as directed by IAHLA.  Artists will retain copyright to their image(s). By entering this international competition, the artist has read, agreed to and will follow the rules outline in this prospectus.  All jury fees are non – refundable. 

 

APPLICATIONS

The IALHA national art competition opens for application on 5 March 2018 and closes at midnight on 1 July 2018.  Twelve (12) finalists will be chosen and promoted on the IALHA social media.  Please add Services@OnlineJuried Shows.com and Manager@OnlineJuriedShows.com to your safe senders list to ensure notifications are received.

 

IMAGES:

All artwork must be cropped to include only the artwork (no frame or matting).  Sizes must be listed up to the nearest inch.  Images must be smaller than 4MB but at least 1920 pixels on the longest side at 72 dpi.  Images should be in JPEG format. 

 

ENTRY FEES

$25.00 for up to 3 images. All entry fees are non-refundable and must be paid by the entry deadline.

 

SHIPPING

Only the Grand Prize-winning artwork must be shipped so that the work can be premiered at the 2019 national IALHA show. The winner is responsible for all shipping charges to and from (if the artwork does not auction at the reserve) the show in Texas.   Although IALHA will take great care with the artwork, IALHA is not responsible for damage.

 

DEADLINE

1 July 2018.

 

AWARDS

The Grand Prize winner will be chosen from the group of 12 finalists.   Second place, Third place and Honorable Mention will be recognized online and a certificate of achievement will also be issued to the award winners.

All finalists receive an open invitation to attend the IAHLA show to collect original source materials for their future artwork.

The 12 finalists will be promoted through IALHA FACEBOOK page promoting the image, the artist and the artist’s website beginning on 5 July 2018. 

 

The Grand Prize winner will receive:

-        $300.00 (possibly more) cash award.

-        Promotion of the winning artwork:

 On the IAHLA website for 1 year.

At the National IAHLA Show .

On the IAHLA Art Website (with past winners).

-        A feature article with photographs of the winning artwork and other artwork by the artist in The Iberian Horse Magazine (print and digital editions).

-        The Grand Prize artwork will be featured in the 2019 IALHA National Show program.  IALHA reserves the rights to publish posters and other merchandise of the Grand Prize artwork for the year 2019.  If IALHA exercises that right it will pay for all expenses and retain all revenue to this merchandise.

-        The winning original artwork  will be displayed during the 2019 National Show and auctioned. The artist will set the reserve price (IAHLA will retain 25% of the sell price up to $1000.00 and additional revenue over the $250.00 cap for IAHLA will go directly to the artist.)

-        The winning artist will also receive a free 10 x 10 indoor booth space at the 2019 IALHA Nationals vendor area (a $500.00 value).  This booth will include the winning artwork as well as any other art work by the artist that the artist wishes to display and sell.  The artist will retain 100% of proceeds from all other artwork sold through the booth space.  If the artist is not available to attend, IALHA will display the winning work for the artist.

-        The winning artist will be given special access to the 2019 show horses and competitors to gather material for future artwork.

 

JURYING

Initial jurying will be conducted by a panel lead by J. M. DeLipsey, Ph.D. Women Artists of the West Associate member and National Advertising chair.  The final awards will be determined by the IALHA board.
