Juror, Michael Bailey, AWS, NWS

“Mike” Bailey resides in Santa Cruz, California.  He is a nationally and internationally recognized, award winning watercolor painter. Educated in Engineering and Business from San Jose State University, he took up painting in mid-career. While working as a marketing executive in high tech, he took on painting as a means to relieve stress. This was a midlife experience, which, from the outset, became a compelling passion to master and understand fine art. Through books and study with a few widely known, highly accomplished painters, he gradually developed a deep understanding of painting and the challenges therein.
He has exhibited his paintings in Shanghai, China, New York City, France, and Spain and other notable locations around the United States. His work has been published in books and magazines, is held in corporate and private collections throughout the U.S., Europe and Australia.
Mike pursues plein air painting on California’s central coast for pleasure, while he explores his creative possibilities in his studio.
