For best results, make sure your image is 1920 pixels @72 dpi on the longest side. Images should be in JPEG format, sRGB color space.

Eligibility
Open to all artists in California that can hand deliver and retrieve their work (should it not sell) or have a friend do so. Artists may submit work in watercolor, acrylic, oil, and pastel. No photography, video or 3D work will be considered. Submission of artwork done during the course of a workshop or class is not permitted. All artwork must be the artist’s original work from conception through execution. The artwork must not be a copy or likeness of another’s work, or derived from a published painting, drawing, photograph, digital image, or print,. No giclees. Works deemed unsuitable will not be hung. Work must be framed or gallery wrapped with finished edges and wired for hanging. Unframed, gallery-wrapped paintings must be at least 1 inch deep with finished edges. Dimensions may not exceed 24” in height by 36” in length, not including frame. Entries must be plein air paintings, executed on location, out of doors or inspired by plein air. The theme Wine & Canvas is in appreciation for our host venue, Wargin Wines, and in the spirit of Spring. It is open to the artist’s interpretation. Artists must be able to hand deliver and pick up their work if it does not sell. No shipped work will be accepted.
Fees
$40 to enter up to 3 images.
If accepted to the show, and upon delivering your work to be installed, a $20 fee is due payable directly to our host venue, Wargin Wines. For this fee, Wargin Wines will provide artists:
- 2 passes for wine tasting & 10% discount to use or give
- 2 first friday listings for the event
- Calendar event promotion in Santa Cruz, San Jose and Monterey
- Email Invitation to use (new)
- Social media call outs for artists that have public businesses / profiles
- Community Outreach & Signage (new)
- Wargin Wines will take care of the sales tax collection and payment
Juror
Our Juror for Awards is renowned plein air painter and portrait artist, Sandra Lo. Sandra is represented by the San Francisco Women Artists Gallery and is an active member of the California Art Club and the Portrait Society of America. Her work has been juried into many National and Regional Exhibitions where she has won many awards.
In her own words: " I was born in a small city in Southern China. My father was an oil painting artist. I grew up with his paintings, art books and stories. He taught me how to draw and he told me that I was very talented. I dreamed of becoming an artist and traveling painting around the world ever since I was a little girl. In 1979, I immigrated to the USA from Hong Kong, and settled down in the San Francisco Bay Area.
In 2005, a great passion was ignited, I started to paint after away from art for more than 20 years. My mediums are oil, pastel and charcoal. I paint portraits, figures, plein air landscapes and still-lifes. In every moment of everyday life, there is something that inspires me to paint.

Exhibition Details
The Wine & Canvas Exhibition & Sale will be hosted by Wargin Wines at their Watsonville tasting room at 11 Hanger Way in Watsonville, CA. and will feature paintings by The Central Coast Plein Air Painters of the amazing beauty of California’s Central Coast reflective of the theme Wine and Canvas. Selected artwork will be on display through end of April. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards will be given as well as 8 honorable mentions. Artists will receive 75% of all sales of their work. The exhibition and sale will be promoted via social media and PR. Artists are welcome to invite as many fans of their work as they like. Wargin Wines will be offering wine tasting of their delicious wine and light refreshments for all guests of age.
