(Application dates: January 30 – April 1, 2018)

EXHIBITION DETAIL
AWA is pleased to announce their third museum exhibition, at the Haggin Museum in Stockton, California, as part of American Women Artists’ 25 in 25 campaign, an initiative to have twenty-five museum shows in 25 years. The Haggin Museum is an art and history museum located in Stockton, California, that Sunset Magazine referred to as "one of the under-sung gems of California." The permanent art collection is European focused. The museum has been undergoing a renovation and AWA's show celebrates a re-examination of their collection. The title of the show is Full Sun: American Women Artists Illuminate the Haggin Museum. This exhibit has some unique subject qualifications, please see the eligibility and entry guidelines for information. AWA’s National Juried Exhibition at the Haggin Museum is open to AWA Associate and Associate with Distinction Members. In addition to approximately $10,000 in monetary and merchandise awards, final works selected will appear on AWA’s website gallery, be featured in our monthly e-newsletters, and promoted through AWA’s social media channels. AWA is dedicated to providing professional opportunities for women in the visual arts.  We invite you to join AWA as an Associate member and enter our national juried exhibitions.

ELIGIBILITY
Open to women at least 18 years of age, who are working in the fine arts and living in the United States, Canada, or Mexico. To submit works, applicants MUST BE AN ASSOCIATE or ASSOCIATE WITH DISTINCTION MEMBER of American Women Artists. If you were a member in 2017 and/or prior years, but have not yet renewed, or if you would like to join as a new member, please email contact@americanwomenartists.org to join or renew as an Associate member. If you do not pay for your membership by the April 1, 2018, submission deadline, your entry will be disqualified.  Associate membership is $60/year, Associate with Distinction is $75/year.

American Women Artists seeks to select an exhibition of representational fine art demonstrating excellence in terms of composition, technique, mastery of medium and quality of design. The final selection will be an exemplary showcase of a diverse group of representational artworks by artists who draw, paint, and sculpt in a contemporary or traditional style. This show is a little more challenging than usual. We have selected 13 of the museum's most iconic works. You are to pick one of the 13 selected works as inspiration for your piece.  We want you to paint/sculpt something completely unique, but inspired by some aspect of one of these 13 paintings: the composition, color, animals, a gesture… or give these old masterpieces a contemporary make-over.  Click to HERE to view the images. Below each painting you can click through to a larger image on the museum's website and, in most cases, additional information about the painter and the painting. Juried works will be exhibited alongside works by AWA Master and Signature members.

If you are an Associate or an Associate with Distinction member who was juried into AWA’s 2018 show at the Rockwell Museum, you may not apply for the 2018 Haggin Museum show! Conversely, if you did not get into the Rockwell Museum show, you may apply for the Haggin Museum show.
