Exhibition Details
Sonoran Plein Air Painters (SPAP) presents an exciting opportunity to exhibit in our first Juried/Judged Members show with prize money totaling over $1000 dollars at the Tucson Desert Art Museum from April 4 - April 29th.  For those who want to participate, we will have a paint out in the courtyard at the Art Museum April 7th (Saturday morning).  Our newly formed organization is proud to partner up with the Tucson Desert Art Museum for our first show!

You must be a member with dues up-to-date.

$35 will allow you to enter up to 3 pieces. You may enter 2 additional paintings at $10 per entry which would give you a total of 5 entries! 


  1. All entries must be 2 Dimensional, framed plein air paintings in oils, acrylic, water media, or pastel.
  2. All plein air works must have been completed within the last 2 years and available for sale.
  3. SPAP reserves the right to reject any artwork not deemed ready to hang. 
  4. Maximum size: 16”x20”

Entering Your Images
Entry form must be filled out in its entirety.  List sizes up to the nearest inch.  Submitted images must not include matting or frame.  Crop the photos to include only the artwork.  Be sure your images are right-side-up.

Before uploading your images, make sure they are smaller than 4MB, but at least 1920 pixels on the longest side at 72 dpi.  Images should be in JPEG format, sRGB color space.  Help in photographing your work and properly sizing your images can be found at:  If you need help entering your images or are unable to, please write to us here:

By entering this show, you are providing  permission for the use of your images for promotional materials.

The show will be juried to ensure that a quality body of work best represents us

Plein Air Painting

60/40 split with artists receiving the 60%.  Gallery will be processing transactions and artists will receive a check for sold pieces within 30 days  after show closes.  Our show will also be available online with artwork for sale to a global audience on

Artists are responsible for shipping charges of entries to and from exhibit.  Please include a prepaid return label. The museum will accept artwork between March 28-March 31.

Important Dates

  1. February 1: Opening date for submitting work online.
  2. March 1: Closing date for submitting work
  3. Week of March 11th: Members notified of works accepted
  4. April 2: Receive AND hang exhibit between 10am-12pm. If shipping, the museum will accept artwork  between March 28-March 31.
  5.  April 4-April 29: Show will exhibit at Tucson Desert Art Museum at the Four Corners Gallery on Tanque Verde and Kolb.
  6. April 7: Paintout Saturday morning from 8am-11:30am at Tucson Desert Art Museum, courtyard area. With this effort, we can generate some traffic to our show from the brunch restaurant next door.
  7. April 14:  Reception from 5:30-7:30 with light eats and beverages.
  8. April 30: Take down of show between 10am-12pm.

Notifications are sent through ConstantContact from To ensure receipt of this notification, please add to your contact list, or safe senders’ list. On the day of notification, you can do the following, but you will also receive an email notification, sent from ConstantContact, that will state the same.

1. Go to and log in using your email address and password.
2. Right above where you just logged in, click "Your Artist Profile." You are now in Your account!
3. Click the show name and you will see your first image. The jury results will be under the thumbnail view.
4. As you will see, it will say either "This Image has been Accepted or Declined in to the show." Under that sentence, you can click "Read Acceptance (or Declined) Letter." The letter will then be displayed below.
5. If you submitted more than one piece in the show, go to the next entered piece in the show by clicking the page number, displayed below the thumbnail image.
6. While you are in your account on, click "Personal Info" and make sure your name, address, phone number, and email address are up-to-date. NOTE: Please be sure to read your letters in their entirety. Most acceptance letters will ask you to RSVP or will have special instructions you must follow.
