Lisa McKnett Gallery ™ Competition

2018 First Show

We are proud to announce our first this year art competition and show at Lisa McKnett Gallery in Laguna Hills Mall (next door to Game Master, near JCPenney).

We will have this juried-in artwork show on Tuesday, April17th, 2018 starting at 4pm. Awards announcement will take place at 5pm, and will be followed by sale of the artwork. The show at the gallery will last till June 30th.

Subjects

Birds” – small (maximum 8x10) paintings of colorful birds,
Presidential Portraits” – small (maximum 16 x 20) portraits of any US president,
Artist Self-portrait” – also small (maximum 16 x 20),
Political Caricatures” – a caricature drawing, or computer graphics giclée to make laugh of world politicians.

Fees

One year gallery membership is $35 (waived if you are already a member). Once you are a member you will be allowed to enter up to five paintings to any show organized by the gallery for only $30 for the first painting and $5 for each additional painting.

Competition judges

The caricatures will be judged by a renowned caricaturist Court Jones. Court Jones is a commercial illustrator, portrait artist and art instructor. He holds a B.A. in Studio Art from the University of California, San Diego, and was an instructor for many years at the Watts Atelier of the Arts in Encinitas, California. Court also teaches individual workshops and has presented for private art groups and conventions around the world.
The focus of his illustration work is in caricature and humor. His art has appeared on books, magazines, newspapers, retail merchandise and advertisements. He has also done character designs for various film and TV projects. He has won several top awards for his caricature work, his fine art oil portraits and published illustrations. In 2005 Court was named Caricature Artist of the Year by the National Caricaturist Network. And in 2011 he was named Master Caricaturist of the Year by the International Society of Caricature Artists.

Other works will be juried-in by Lisa McKnett – a fine artist and the owner of Lisa McKnett Gallery.

Awards

Awards will be determined based on participation. However we guarantee display space in the gallery and advertisement on gallery website for each participant juried in for the duration of the show.

How to submit

Please make payments and upload photos of your artwork to Online Juried Shows web site at: https://onlinejuriedshows.com/preDefault.aspx.

Entry form must be filled out in its entirety. List sizes up to the nearest inch. Submitted images must not include matting or frame. Crop the photos to include only the artwork. Be sure your images are right-side-up.

Before uploading your images, make sure they are smaller than 4MB (the upload may fail if the image file is too big), but at least 1920 pixels on the longest side at 72 dpi. Images should be in JPEG format.

The last day for submission is March 31st 2018.

Requirements

We accept oil, watercolor, pastel or acrylic, mixed media, color pencils and giclée prints. The paintings and prints should be securely framed and have a hanging wire. No glass. We will accept pictures not smaller than 6” and not bigger than 20” on the larger side. Frame width cannot be more than 4”.

We also require that the contents of the caricatures is not insulting or gross (bloody heads will not be accepted).
We do not allow copies of other artist’s works (including the old masters) – the art must be yours original.

Juried-in notification

You will be notified by email which of the paintings you submitted were juried into the show. Your email will be registered with us when you create your account on the Online Juried Shows web site.

How to deliver juried-in paintings

A. Deliver in person.
The gallery is located in the mall at: 24155 Laguna Hills Mall, Laguna Hills, CA 92653.

All paintings must be accompanied by title, price, artist’s name, contact information (phone or email), and return address written on or permanently attached to the back of the painting.

Please deliver your juried-in artwork between April 6th and April 14th

Gallery show

The exhibition and sale of juried-in works at our gallery will last till June 30th. All unsold paintings must be picked up by the artists or mailed to them by July 7th. Please note that the artists will have to cover the cost of returning their paintings by mail.

Sales

If the sold painting has to be mailed to the buyer then the buyer will be charged the shipping cost.
Our gallery will take 30% commission of all sales.
