JUROR: Albert Handell was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1937.
Mr. Handell’s paintings are in numerous private, public, and museum permanent collections; including The Brooklyn Museum of Art, Brooklyn, New York; the State Capitol Collection of New Mexico, Santa Fe, New Mexico; the Butler Institute of American Art, Youngstown, Ohio; and the Albrecht-Kemper Museum, Saint Joseph, Missouri to name a few. Albert Handell is a consistent award-winning artist. He is the author of five tabletop art instruction books on his oils and pastels. Handell has also been a featured artist in nearly every art magazine. In 2007, The Butler Museum of American Art, honored him with a retrospective of his pastels.
Handell shares his knowledge and experience as an artist/instructor through his Plein Air Painting Workshops and his other advanced program, The Come Paint-A-Long Mentoring Program where aspiring artists join him at his favorite painting locations.
Mr. Handell is a frequent judge for many national exhibitions.

Since 1961, he has had over sixty, one-man shows throughout the country, including a one man show at the Schenectady Museum of Art, Schenectady, NY, and The Albany Museum of History and Art, Albany, NY. Albert lives and paints in Santa Fe, New Mexico. For the past twenty-five years, Albert Handell has had his annual one-man show at the Ventana Fine Art Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

ELIGIBILITY: The 10th Annual Mile High International Pastel Exhibition 2014 juried show is open to any pastel artist 18 years of age or older. Original paintings only accepted. No work from copyrighted images or photographs taken by anyone other than the submitting artist. If used in your paintings, collage materials must be created by the artist. All artwork must be 80% soft pastel. Paintings must have been completed within the last two years and not previously shown in a Pastel Society of Colorado exhibit. Work done under supervision in a class or workshop is not eligible.
ENTRY FEE: Up to 3 paintings may be submitted: $35 – PSC Members, $45 – Non Members.
Entry fee is nonrefundable and must be paid at time of entry.
AWARDS: Extensive Cash and Merchandise Awards will be presented at the opening reception on July 14, 2014. All awards are made at the discretion of our juror, Albert Handell. Sponsor Awards: TBA.
THIS ENTRY FORM IS CONSIDERED A CONTRACT and must be completely and accurately filled out providing all requested information regarding the paintings and the artist. Only digital entries will be accepted through onlinejuriedshows.com, a secured website. When filling out your artwork information for this show, please be sure all information is correct – spelling, title, pricing of artwork. All information is entered by the artist and is used AS IS by PSC. By providing the images and other information, the artist gives permission through this entry for the Pastel Society of Colorado to use the images of the accepted paintings for reference, printed materials and online postings as well as in future advertising. No changes can be made after the entry deadline, May 18, 2014. At the end of your entry process, payment can be made using PayPal or a valid credit card.
FRAMING & PRESENTATION: All works must be delivered framed, glazed, and ready to hang to gallery quality standards, i.e., frames must be suitable for the work and the show and be undamaged, with wired hangers installed on the frame. Paintings can be with or without mats. Matted pieces must be in clean white, off-white or light neutral-hued mats. Artwork can be floated on black or white mats. Liners or fillets should be ¼ inch and may be colored. Artworks not meeting the above criteria will be returned at the artist’s expense and will not be hung in the show.
SIZE AND REQUIREMENTS: Artwork submitted cannot be smaller than 8 inches or larger than 36 inches in any dimension (not including mat and frames). Accepted paintings must be identical to the entry. No substitutions are allowed. All work displayed must remain for the duration of the exhibition. Works juried into the show and not delivered for the exhibit will prohibit the artist’s entry in future PSC-sponsored exhibits for two years.
SALES: All work submitted must be for sale. There will be a 35% commission on sales. No work will be released before the close of the exhibit.
LIABILITY: Utmost care will be taken in the handling of entries and paintings. However, neither the Pastel Society of Colorado nor the Denver Public Library, or their agents will be responsible for loss or damage to any entries or paintings in transit when submitted for this exhibition. Shipping insurance is the responsibility of the submitting artist. Artwork will be insured while displayed at the Denver Public Library.
DELIVERY OF ACCEPTED WORK: Shipping and Delivery instructions for accepted paintings will be included in a notification email to be sent by June 4, 2014. Shipped paintings must be received by July 2, 2014, including all paperwork requested and with a pre-paid return shipping label included.
