PGE Open Online Pastel Competition 2018
The PastelGuild of Europe rf is proud to announce its first ever Open Online Pastel Competition. We have enlisted three well-known pastel artists as judges and offer 2000€ in prize money and hundreds more in art materials or vouchers. Our sponsors are PanPastel, Victor4Art, UART Sanded Paper and Gordan Becin Pastels.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS - Dates & Deadlines
The registration opens on September 1st, 2018.
Deadline is September 30, 2018 12 pm CET.
Our competition will be hosted with OnlineJuriedShows.
The entry form and the digital images of your entries have to be submitted and payment of the fees made to www.OnlineJuriedShows.com no later than that.
All artists will be notified of the results via email on October 31, 2018.
Please add Services@OnlineJuriedShows.com and Manager@OnlineJuriedShows.com to your safe senders list to ensure email delivery. You can view your acceptance by logging in to your Artist Profile after the notification date.
Eligibility
Artists must be 18 years or over. The competition is open to all European pastel artists and to all members of PGE.
Fees
The registration fee for the competition is $ 18 for non-members; artists with a valid PGE membership pay no registration fee. European pastel artists who are not a member can either choose to pay the registration fee or join PGE as an associate member for 15€/year; then they will pay no registration fee for the competition. Non-European pastel artists may only participate if they are members of PGE.

Every participant, member or non-member alike, may enter an unlimited number of entries for an entry fee of $ 6/image.
E.g. if a non-member enters 5 paintings, they pay $ 18 registration fee + 5 x $ 6 entry fee/image=$ 48. A member who enters 5 paintings, only pays 5 x $ 6 entry fee=$ 30.
The fees are non-refundable and must be paid at the time of entry.
Addendum: We had to convert the fees into US Dollars because the OJS payment software doesn’t allow payment in Euro. When Paying via PayPal, the conversion is done there.
Entering Your Images

For best results, make sure your image is 1920 pixels @72 dpi on the longest side. Images should be in JPEG format, sRGB color space.
Please name your files as follows: Surname_Initial_Title (no spaces or special symbols) E.g. Smith_W_GreenValley

ELIGIBLE WORK
Please read carefully to make sure your work meets the following entry requirements:
• Works must be in dry pastel; no oil pastels are allowed. Mixed media must be predominantly (80%) dry pastel.
• Work must be original, not copied from other artists or published materials. That means only your own reference material is allowed!
• All artwork must be originally drawn and not created on top of a base photo or print.
• All work must have been created within the last two years.
• Tasteful nudes are allowed.
• Works done under supervision, such as in a workshop or class are not eligible.
• No entry that has previously won others shows is allowed.
Failure to meet any of the requirements for eligible work may result in the work not being juried.

Pirkko Mäkelä-Haapalinna PSA
Pirkko Mäkelä-Haapalinna was born in Finnish Lapland in 1960. She received her ceramist education in the Arts and Crafts School in Rovaniemi. She studied fine arts at the Faculty of Art and Design at the University of Lapland. Since 2000 she has been painting mainly with pastels. She’s had several solo and group exhibitions in Finland and abroad, and several of her paintings have received international awards. She is a member of the board of the Artists’ Association of Lapland and a Signature member of the Pastel Society of America (PSA).

Eric Wilson
Eric Wilson is one of Great Britain's leading wildlife artists, a multi-award winner whose paintings are now widely collected throughout the world. He has had sell out exhibitions in London, Germany and the United States. His paintings have appeared in numerous magazines and books and original works have been auctioned at Christies in London.
Eric has recently been the subject of a Sky Television documentary 'Zeitgeist' about his life and work. He is also a respected teacher of art, with students coming from as far away as Australia for his lessons and he has taught classes in Italy, Holland, Germany, Austria and Thailand. His instructional DVD 'Pastel Masterclass' has been a huge success selling all over the world.

Jackie Simmonds PSA
Jackie Simmonds is an award-winning British artist and art instruction author. Her original paintings are sold in selected galleries in the UK and abroad, and her work has been shown by some of Britain's leading art institutions, including The Pastel Society and The Society of British Artists. Her prints have been sold world-wide, together with her books and videos.

Publication
The winning paintings will be shown on our website and on the PGE FB page. They will also be featured in a special edition of the PGE newsletter, the Pastel Scribbler.

When you enter the competition, you will be asked for your first and last name, address, phone number and email. This information is needed for the management of the competition. It will not be stored after the competition is over and the prizes have been sent out.
OJS does not include copyright protection for images submitted to the website. Copyright protection of images is the responsibility of the ARTISTS.
Neither OJS nor PGE shall in any way sell, distribute or authorize the use of artists’ images to any third party.
OJS or PGE shall not in any way sell, distribute or authorize the use of email addresses provided by the artists to any third party. However, OJS ‘shall have the right to solicit to current database of artist email address to promote other SHOWS offered through OnlineJuriedShows.com’(excerpt from the OJS-client contract)
If you want to enter our competition, you have to agree to the temporary collection of your personal data, as described above. You also have to agree to the publication of your winning artwork on the PGE website and FB page. The copyright remains with the artist.
