Grassroots: An Emerging Artists Exhibition

Grassroots: An Emerging Artists Exhibition

The Rockport Art Association & Museum invites artists to enter this exhibit that celebrates emerging artists who are not yet Exhibiting Artist Members of the RAA&M. This is an opportunity to show artwork that celebrates the diversity of the creative community around us. Contributing Members of the RAA&M are encouraged to submit work to this exhibit, but membership is not required to participate. All online submissions will be reviewed by a jury to determine acceptance into this show.

Important Dates:

Online Submissions: July 3 - 20, 2018
Notice of Acceptance: July 23 – 29, 2018
Accepted Artwork Drop-Off: Wednesday, August 8, 2018
Exhibition Dates: August 11 - September 3, 2018

Submission Criteria and Content:

All entries must be original. Once artwork has been submitted, the artist may not withdraw it. All artwork must remain hanging for the duration of the exhibition unless sold.

Artwork submissions are limited to three artworks per artist in the following media: drawing, mixed media, collage, photography, painting, digital art, and sculpture. For all two-dimensional work, maximum size, including the frame, is 18” x 22”. All works on paper must be matted, framed, and covered with glass or Plexiglas. Frames must be in good condition. Entries must be dry, properly prepared for exhibition, and ready to hang. All wire and exhibition hardware should not be visible once mounted. Gallery wrapped canvas does not require framing unless the edges are unfinished. Maximum weight per piece is five pounds. Sculpture should be less than life size.

All entries must be submitted in a digital JPEG format. Photos of the artwork should be cropped to remove background. Photos of the artwork should also not be taken through glass or Plexiglas in order to prevent poor image quality. Image quality is critical for review. That said, poor photography or presentation might affect acceptance by the juror. The digital image must represent the artwork.
