Filoli
Orchids: Glorious and Grand

Exhibit Name: Orchids: Glorious and Grand

Dates: January 6 - February 24, 2019

Submission Deadline: December 5, 2018

Fee: $35.00 for up to 5 images

Built as a country estate in 1915, Filoli is recognized internationally for its horticultural excellence. During Filoli’s 2019 winter season, orchids will be the feature of lush floral displays and living arrangements, and unique species plants and cultivars will fill the historic mansion and greenhouse.

To complement the horticultural displays and floral arrangements in Filoli’s grand mansion, an exhibition in the Visitor Center gallery will capture a larger-than-life view of this plant family through Orchids: Glorious and Grand. In this color photography exhibition featuring large prints, delicate details will be magnified to display the orchid flower’s glorious beauty and the grand function of its structure.

Photographers are encouraged to submit full color photographs of species not typically photographed, to explore orchids in varying stages of bloom, or to exploit the large format. Up to 3 images may be accepted from a single photographer, so series entries are welcomed. Photographs must have a solid background.
