He has been a gallery owner in the second-largest art market in America (Santa Fe, NM) and has his work in the permanent collection of over 30 museums.

Eligibility

Northwind Arts Center’s Artist Showcase program invites artists to apply to be represented in the Artist Showcase for 2019.  Artists 16 years of age or older, living within Puget Sound and the Olympic Peninsula, are eligible for submission to the Artist Showcase. New and emerging artists are encouraged to submit, as well as artists who have previously been juried into the Showcase and into Northwind shows, and those who are established and have had solo or group exhibits.

24 two-dimensional artists and 8 three-dimensional artists will be offered representation in the Artist Showcase, with 8 waitlisted 2D artists and 6 waitlisted 3D artists.

Conditions

All artists, working in any medium, are encouraged to apply -- painting, photography, sculpture, art jewelry, glass, wood, ceramic, printmaking, etc. Eligibility is open to all media except printed reproductions and cards.

Artist Showcase provides an alternative to a cooperative gallery setting by providing an ongoing professional exhibit space in Northwind Arts Center. Northwind’s showcase encourages excellence in art as the artist is presented in a curated show, hung and rotated monthly by Northwind. The artist is not required to staff the exhibit space; and the artist takes away 70% of the sale price of their art. Northwind provides jurying of artists for acceptance into Showcase, trained volunteer staffing, as well as a prime downtown location with professional lighting in exchange for a marketing fee of $50 per month from each accepted artist.

Submission Requirements

Application to the Artist Showcase occurs in 2 steps.

Step 1: Initial jurying is through OnlineJuriedShows.com with juror Bruce Cody.  There is a $40 entry fee. Notification of Preliminary Acceptance in Step 1: January 10, 2019

Step 2: Accepted artists will then submit three pieces of suitably presented, framed and prepared for exhibit works to be juried in through individual interviews with the Showcase curatorial staff during the week of January 20, 2019

All Artists accepted through both steps must deliver seven additional pieces of work on  February 20, 21 & 23.  Accepted artists must also provide Northwind with an artist bio, artist statement, headshot and 6 digital images [See the Digital Image Requirements page on our website for details] for promotional use on Northwind’s Showcase web page, printed artist info cards, and other materials. The required documents can be sent as an email attachment to showcase@northwindarts.org.

Payments to Artists

Northwind pays the artist a wholesale price equal to 70% of the artist’s price when there is a sale. Northwind will collect from the buyer, and pay, appropriate sales tax for the purchase. Payments to artists will occur by check within 45 days after the date of the sale of any artworks.
