Reintroducing American Tonalism at the Salmagundi Club
The American Tonalist Society is hosting an online juried submission process for guest artists in its inaugural Exhibition at the Salmagundi Club in May 2019. There will be only three artists that will be chosen to join the invited artists and if chosen, the artists will be also given complimentary membership to the American Tonalist Society for a full year.

You are invited to be part of the inaugural show of the American Tonalist Society (ATS) presented by the historic Salmagundi Club on May 1, 2019.
We are working towards over $10,000 in sponsorships.
About Contemporary American Tonalism:
In response to the popularity of colorful plein air painting on the American scene, today’s American Tonalists celebrate paintings that portray atmospheric and luminous effects that evoke emotion. The paintings represent a quiet, contemplative experience that embody spirituality and simplicity.
The mission of the ATS is to recognize, promote and showcase the current tonalist movement, and to continue the tradition of the American Tonalists of the 1800s through workshops, exhibitions and catalogues.
Please submit images of works you want included in the show. All works will be considered for inclusion in the show based on curatorial review. Work will be accepted by digital submissions.
- Please submit your images of paintings in oil , acrylic, pastel , or watercolor. (no photography or prints allowed). Work must be in the genre of tonalism. Up to two paintings per artist will be accepted into the show.
- Largest horizontal size is 36"
- All paintings must be for sale at the show through the Salmagundi Club (65% to artist)
- A fee of $125 will be due upon acceptance to ATS for promotional and administrative costs. This cost will be conducted by ATS and not part of the submission fee.
- Participation in the show will entitle you to a one year membership in the American Tonalist Society.
- Please attend the Opening reception on Friday, May 3, 2019 at the Salmagundi Club, NYC.

Entry deadline: February 25, 2019
Painting must be available and for sale for the May 1st show.
Upon acceptance there is a $125 fee
Shipping will be at the expense of the artist.
