Description

For nearly two centuries, Cape Ann, Massachusetts has been a destination for some of the finest painters who paint en plein air. Throughout its four picturesque seaside communities, Cape Ann Plein Air will host its fourth annual week-long plein air painting celebration in October 2019 when the famous Cape Ann light shines at its very best. A newly minted 501c-3, and organized by representatives from various local arts organizations, as well as the Chamber of Commerce and art lovers from across the Cape, CAPA will bring 40 of the finest artists in the nation to compete for over $20,000 in prizes and awards while raising awareness of all that painting en plein air is today. The work produced will be sold at the Grand Awards Gala on Saturday, October 12 at North Shore Arts Association and continue through Monday, October 14.

Cape Ann Plein Air’s 2019 Acceptance Juror and Awards Judge are nationally acclaimed plein air painters: Acceptance Juror Mark Boedges of Vermont and Awards Judge Kenn Backhaus of Buck’s County, PA. CAPA 2019 is honored to have such distinguished professionals participating with us this year.
