The Representational Art Conference 2019 – TRAC2019, is the premier international art conference focused on cutting-edge representational art in the 21st Century, presented by the California Lutheran University Arts Initiative. This year we will explore the relationship between imagination and representation. Artists and speakers include Roger Dean, Cheech Marin, Corinna Wagner, Joseph Bravo, Regina Jacobson, Michael Pearce, Michael Zakian, F. Scott Hess, and Virgil Elliott.

In the spirit of the conference, we are seeking images for an exhibition that will be hosted by the Crowne Plaza Hotel that extends beyond TRAC2019. Competition winners will receive an invitation to participate in the exhibition, get their work published in The Art of TRAC2019 catalogue (a 200 page illustrated catalogue with corresponding essays), as well as the prizes listed below. Note: Each prize level applies to each round of competitions. The names of each prize do not correspond with any requirements needed to win the award.

Entering Your Images

You can enter your images online at www.OnlineJuriedShows.com. Help in photographing your work and properly sizing your images can be found at: www.OnlineJuriedShows.com/help.aspx.

On the Online Juried Shows home page, look for the TRAC2019 link and follow the instructions. Be advised, you will need to sign-up for a free account prior to uploading your images. All payments need to be made prior to the cut-off date to avoid image deletion.

Submission deadline is Midnight PDT, February 28th, 2019.

For best results, make sure your image is 1920 pixels @72 dpi on the longest side. Images should be in JPEG format, sRGB color space. If you need help entering your images or are unable to, please contact info@onlinejuriedshows.com or call 949-409-4061.

Eligibility

Entrants must be over the age of 18 to enter. Artwork must be representational in nature. Because the artwork will be displayed for a period that extends beyond the conference dates and in a public-access space, the venue requests that submitted works are appropriate for the family-frequented setting. Entries that do not adhere to this are unable to be used for consideration.

Fees

The entry fee is $35 for the first two works and $5 for each additional work. Artists may enter an unlimited number of works, and may enter as many rounds as they wish. Winners may not enter rounds beyond the round in which they received their prize.

Jurying Process

The TRAC Art Competition consists of seven rounds of judging. Each round is judged by a distinguished panel of jurors. In the first six rounds the jurors will select the top three awards. The jurors of the seventh and final round will select the Grand Prize winner from the Cadmium Prize winners of the previous six rounds.

TRAC2019 will retain 30% of selling price of works sold as a result of the exhibition, which will be used to offset costs of the conference.

Transportation

Accepted artwork should be delivered to the exhibition venue in Ventura, CA. Please arrange the dropping off of artwork with Rachel Schmid, rtschmid@callutheran.edu, 805-493-3697. If you live outside the greater Ventura or Los Angeles area and cannot deliver your work, shipping of accepted work is permissible. Shipping requirements are as follows: Artists are responsible for all shipping arrangements and expenses. Round-trip shipping expenses must be prepaid. Those entries sent collect will not be accepted. All artwork must be packed in a reusable container, and all packing material must be sufficient for safe return. Crates must be clearly and properly labeled for return shipment. All images must remain for the entire duration of the exhibition, dates are TBD.

Accepted Entry Criteria

Please use industry accepted matting and framing techniques; works must be ready to hang when received. Please affix an identification label to the rear top left corner of the finished work. The visible label must include: Name, Address, Phone Number, Email Address, Title and if applicable Selling Price.

Liability

The Representational Art Conference and the Crowne Plaza Ventura Beach will exercise the best possible care in the handling of your submissions. But, neither shall be responsible for loss or damage of your submission due to fire, theft, vandalism, or any other cause. Entries submitted constitute agreement to the conditions set forth in this prospectus.
