59th ARTIST’S ALPINE HOLIDAY SHOW

A National Juried Fine Art Exhibit

Ouray, CO

 

The 59th Artists’ Alpine Holiday Fine Art Show and Sale is open to all artists and photographers over 18.  Artists’ Alpine Holiday each year bringing over 400 works of art, including sculpture and photography. The show is generally attended by close to 2,000 visitors from more than 30 states and 5 foreign countries. Approximately 10% or more of the art is sold during the show’s run each year. Proceeds from a percentage of sales, as well as monies received from entry fees, memberships, and cash donations, are used to support ongoing shows, including the awarding of over $5000.00 in prizes and payment of the show’s judges.

            July 31st                       Opening Reception for artists Ouray Comm. Center 7 PM

            Aug 1st- 10th                 59th Annual Artists’ Alpine Holiday Fine Arts Show (hours vary)

            Aug 10th                       Pick up of artwork  5-7PM and Aug 11th  10 AM to 2 PM   

 

Categories

The following media will be accepted: Watercolor (WC), Drawing-Print Making (D/P), Oil/Acrylic (O/A), Pastel (PA), Mixed Media (MM), Sculpture (SC), and Photography (PH). If any category does not receive a minimum number of entries, those entries may be combined with another category for jurying. 

Awards

Cash awards of over $5000.  1st place in each media/or combination of categories $400, 2nd place $200, 3rd place $100. Best of Show $500

Entry Rules

1.      All artwork must be for sale.  OCAA retains a 30% commission on all sales.  Include this when pricing your work.

2.      Entries to all categories must be original work, NOT SHOWN PREVIOUSLY at an Artists’ Alpine Holiday Show. All artwork must be original in concept and not copied from any copyright protected photos or artwork. No artwork created during an instructor-guided workshop will be accepted. 

3.      Framed entries may not exceed 9 square feet (including the frame). All entries must be completely prepared for hanging with wire. No picture hooks or teeth hangars are allowed.  (Sq. ft.= L x W divide by 144)

4.      No crafts, stained glass, jewelry, or reproduction prints will be accepted.  Sculpture must be non-functional and 3-D.  Diptychs count as two entrties and triptych’s count as three entries.

5.      No entry may be removed from the show before the end of the exhibit.

Submitting/uploading your digital files

Please have your image files ready to attach to the form according to these specifications:

·         File Format: JPEG/JPG, highest quality, 1920 pixels longest side. File size not to exceed 4MB.

 

·         Photo of image only, no watermarks/signatures, frame or mat should not be included in the uploaded image.

 

 

 

Fees

Before Registering online for the Artists’ Alpine Holiday, consider the following; are you a member of OCAA or a non-member?

·         OCAA members with dues current $30.00 (one or two entries)

·         Members add $5.00 for a third entry.

·         Non-members $40.00 (one or two entries), add $5.00 fee for the optional third entry.

Notification of Acceptance

Notifications will be emailed starting July 1, 2019.  Artists entering have the option of showing their juried-out artwork in the adjoining San Juan Room for an opportunity to sell. 

 

Hand Delivery of Artwork

Hand delivered art work must be checked in at the Ouray Community Center, 320 6th Ave, Ouray, CO 81427, Sunday, July 28rd between 11 AM until 4 PM or Monday, July 29th, 9 AM – 12 Noon. 

 

Shipping of Artwork

Shipped artwork MUST be sent in an AIRFLOAT lined strongbox from www.airfloatsys.com or a similar foam lined box such as Uline www.uline.com. Any artwork shipped in loose materials, such as packing peanuts will not be unpacked or hung in the show. All unsold art will be returned in the same box with your pre-paid UPS label. (Include a $10 handling fee for shipped artwork, payable at check-out to OCAA)

SHIPPED WORK MUST BE RECEIVED BY WEDNESDAY, JULY 24th.

Any artwork damaged during shipping will be returned to sender.

 

Unsold, shipped artwork will be return shipped the week of August 11th, and artists will be notified of shipping date by email.

 

Pickup of Artwork

Unsold artwork must be picked up at the Ouray Community Center 320 6th Ave. Ouray, on Saturday, August 10 between 5 PM and 7 PM or Sunday, August 11th between 10 AM and 2 PM. 

 

Disclaimer/Legal

Disclaimer/Legal – Ouray County Arts Reserves the right to use images of entries for publicity with credits to the artist.  Great care is taken to protect the artwork but please note that the artist assumes the risk of loss or damage to the artwork during transportation and while the artwork is in the custody of the Ouray County Arts Association.  The artist is responsible for making such insurance arrangements as the artist deems appropriate.

OCAA will not be responsible for errors made by the artist in filling out the Entry Form for the show.  This includes misspellings and incorrect pricing.  All efforts will be made to correct mistakes brought to the attention of OCAA by the artist prior to the show. Accepted entries must match the digital images originally submitted or they will be disqualified.
