Lisa McKnett Gallery
The Real Wild West

2019 “The Real Wild West” Competition

Lisa McKnett Gallery is proud to announce our first online art competition.

Sign up between February 8th and May 12th.

This is an online show – you do not have to send out actual paintings unless one of gallery patrons wants to buy them.

The Real Wild West” – paintings that show how the American Frontier really looked like in the eighteen hundreds. Depict prospectors, saloons, cowboys, Native Americans, showgirls, settlers, the first railroads, Mississippi steamboats, the Indian Wars, etc. Recreations of the scenes and people must be historically correct – no caricatures, no modern objects, clothing as it was in the nineteen century, etc.

The winner will receive $300 cash prize.

Juried-in artwork will be advertised on the gallery website. Entering the competition will start your one year gallery membership. Gallery member artists’ names will be listed on the gallery website until their membership expires (you may however request that we do not list your name).

One year gallery membership is $35 (waived if you are already a member). Once you are a member you will be allowed to enter up to ten paintings to any show organized by the gallery for only $30 for the first painting and $5 for each additional painting.

·         February 8th to May 12th – sign up for the show and submit photos of your artwork.

·         May 16th to May 19th – acceptance notifications will be emailed to the contestants.

·         May 22nd – the winners and the juried in artwork will be listed on gallery web site

Before uploading your images, make sure they are smaller than 4MB (the upload may fail if the image file is too big), but at least 1920 pixels on the longest side at 72 dpi. Images should be in JPEG format.
Help in photographing your work and properly sizing your images can be found at: If you need help entering your images or are unable to, please write to us here:
