Exhibition Theme

Sonoran Plein Air Painters (SPAP) is sponsoring a fun and different opportunity for our plein air artists to peek into Old Tucson theme park and do some painting. It is open to SPAP members only with dues up to date. The theme of this show is to capture the old west with views of 1800’s Western facade architecture, trains, windmills, stagecoach, and more western rustic scenes than you can imagine. We’re setting up a series of paintout options to hopefully best accommodate your schedules. We will also include some fun “quick draws” between shows to advertise our gallery pieces and direct traffic to the Shelton Gallery.

Paint Out Schedule Logistics

Within Old West park, we have multiple days scheduled during the week and weekends, with a caveat, please email Mary Davis at Old Tucson when you will be coming so she can let you in the premises. Her email is at mdavis@oldtucson.com.

Parking and Entry detail:

As mentioned, please notify Mary Davis via email. During the week, you may park in employ parking, mention you are an artist with SPAP, sign in through security side door.

Prior to park opening on weekends 10am, park in employee parking, sign in through security door.

After 10am, park in public parking lot and enter through main gate. Again mention you are with SPAP and will be painting in the park.

Oct. 22nd-24th, 29th-31st PLUS those weekends

Nov. 5th-7th, 12th-14th PLUS those weekends

Eligibility

Open to SPAP members with dues up to date.

Format

This show will be juried and judged, both to be announced later. You may enter up to 2 plein air paintings, 1 or both could be juried in. Sales will be an 80/20 split, 80% to artist and 20% to Old Tucson Foundation. Size can be anything under 200 square inches.

Entry Fees

You may enter 2 pieces with entree fee at $35 for members.

Requirements

? All entries must be 2 Dimensional, framed plein air paintings in oils, acrylic, water media, or pastel.

? All plein air works must have been completed at Old West them park grounds in plein air.

? Please prepare art with wire on back to be hung on hooks.

? SPAP reserves the right to reject any artwork not deemed ready to hang.

Entering Your Images

You will use OnlineJuried Shows, and you’ll look up our prospectus: www.OnlineJuriedShows.com/

Entry form must be filled out in its entirety. List sizes up to the nearest inch. Submitted images must not include matting or frame. Crop the photos to include only the artwork. Be sure your images are right-side-up.

Before uploading your images, make sure they are smaller than 4MB, but at least 1920 pixels on the longest side at 72 dpi. Images should be in JPEG format, RGB color space. By entering this show, you are providing permission for the use of your images for promotional materials.

Sales

80/20 split with artists receiving the 80%, and %20 back to SPAP. For sales, the artist will arrange for the transaction with the buyer. You will be contacted by the buyer because your contact phone number will be on the gallery tags that SPAP prepares. The show will also be available online with artwork for sale to a global audience on www.dailybrushwork.com.

Reception:

We will have a reception on Nov. 23, 3:30-5:00 with light eats and a cash bar. As a heads up, this will coincide with their Thanksgiving Celebrate Western Heritage theme, and one of their highest foot traffic events of the year!

Artists/Invitees can get in free for our reception, just mention SPAP Show

4. As you will see, it will say either "This Image has been Accepted or Declined in to the show." Under that sentence, you can click "Read Acceptance (or Declined) Letter." The letter will then be displayed below.

5. If you submitted more than one piece in the show, go to the next entered piece in the show by clicking the page number, displayed below the thumbnail image.

6. While you are in your account on OnlineJuriedShows.com, click "Personal Info" and make sure your name, address, phone number, and email address are up-to-date. NOTE: Please be sure to read your letters in their entirety. Most acceptance letters will ask you to RSVP or will have special instructions you must follow.
