JUROR – Adria Becker

Adria Becker is a working artist and longtime arts educator, both with Artist Co-op7 at the SFVACC and the American Jewish University Whizin Center of Continuing Education.  She serves as director of the SFVACC and has curated many of the Center’s exhibits. Her work has been shown in national and international exhibits, on Artsy, and in several feature films.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

A chalk wall in my childhood bedroom is where my artistic journey began.  I had teachers who challenged me to explore and develop my talent.  Trips to Tahiti with its light, colors and flow are reflected in my work.  My studio is now my chalkboard.

Drawing from the human form, gesture guides my hand across the page.  I draw people as I see them; dynamic and full of life.  Delicate lines reveal the contour of their bodies, putting on paper our shared experiences.
