Brief statement of work:
Studying the obsessive desires of individuals in their frail attempts at achieving wholeness through addictive impulses and actions, I stand to expose and replicate the fleeting ecstasy through ceramic sculpture. Garishly glazed and decorated, these figurative works represent a congealing of experiences and emotions that virtually evolve before the viewers eyes. Fragmented and broken these sculptures attempt to communicate the universal sense of isolation caused by compulsive habits due the unrelenting demands of modern life. Juxtaposing academic drawing and rendering with impulsive and chaotic mark making, these sculptures show the nature of an individual grappling internally with their immediate desires and rejection of pain.
