Best of Show - $200

1st Place - $125, 2nd Place - $75, 3rd Place - $50 in each category

COAL members: $18 for 1st entry and $15 for each additional entry 

Non-members: $25 for 1st entry and $20 for each additional entry 

Non-members may join COAL on receiving day.

(The membership will be Pro-rated for the remaining 3 monthly shows in 2021)

 

MEDIA CATEGORIES: Oil/Acrylics, Water Media, Pastels, Drawing/Printmaking, Mixed Media/Collage, Photography, Digital Art, Sculpture.

JUDGING RULES:  Artists may not win multiple cash awards in a single category (For purposes of this rule “Best-of-Show” is considered a separate category)

ELIGIBLE ARTWORK:  All work must be original, done in the past 2 years, and may not have won a cash award in a previous COAL show. No work from workshops or classes and no work using copyrighted source material unless you own the copyright.

No reproductions or "Not for Sale" entries are allowed.

ENTRY SPECIFICATIONS:  All entries must be considered suitable for general viewing.

All hanging submissions must be dry, framed with gallery-quality frames with D rings or offset clips, and have sturdy wire (wire's apex no less than 3” from the top of the frame). Wire ends must be taped, ready to hang. No saw tooth hangers or screw eyes will be accepted.

Maximum weight of hanging submissions – 15 lbs.

Diptychs and triptychs are considered as 1 entry.

Work on paper must be under glass or Plexiglas (Plexiglas only, not glass, if work is larger than 24" x 30").

Sculpture (non-hanging) is limited to 60 lbs. and must be attached to its base. 

The Size limit is as follows for wall-hung entries. No single entry may have a diagonal measurement greater than 60 inches. The sum of the diagonal (corner to corner) measurements of combined entries (including frames) not to exceed 110 inches, and limited to 15 lbs. each. 

The Carlsbad-Oceanside Art League reserves the right to reject any work that, in its opinion, fails to meet the eligibility and entry specifications

LIABILITY: The League, its Officers, Directors, agents, and representatives assume NO responsibility for damages, theft, or loss to entries submitted for the show. All Entries are subject to these conditions. Insurance is the responsibility of the artist. Submission of an entry automatically constitutes the entrant's acceptance of all competition rules.

PAYMENT OF ENTRY FEES: Fees are payable according to guidelines per OnlineJuriedShows.com

ACCEPTANCE NOTIFICATION: Artists will be notified per guidelines of OnlineJuriedShows.com

SALE OF ARTWORK: Posted selling prices include 7.75% sales tax. Sales will be processed through COAL. 7.75% Sales tax, a commission of 20%, and a 3% credit card fee (when applicable) will be deducted from the posted price. Processed checks will be mailed to artists within 10 days of the end of the show. If an artist's sales exceed $600, the artist will be required to submit a Form W-9 before the proceeds are forwarded. Sold artwork may not be replaced by the artist.

PICK-UP OF ACCEPTED ARTWORK: The show closes Monday, October 3. All artwork must be picked up Monday, October 4, between 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Tuesday, October 5, between 1-5 p.m., Wednesday, October 6, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Accepted artwork may NOT be removed before the end of the show. Exception: Out of town buyers who must take it with them.. Please bring your picture identification. A Signed authorization is required if picking another artist’s entry(s).

NOTE TO MEMBERS: Assigned hosting dates will be chosen when turning in Accepted work. It is greatly appreciated if Members who submit works, that are not accepted, will volunteer to cover open "Hosting" dates throughout September.

ACCEPTED, JURIED-IN ART CHECKLIST:  Before coming to the gallery, fill out entry forms supplied with the acceptance letter, turn in this form with your artwork. Please make sure your name, title of work, and phone number is attached to the back of your artwork.
