Prospectus for Juried Painting Show 2020


Important Dates:


•  Entry period closes: March 8, 2020

•  Notification of Acceptance: March 20, 2020

•  Artwork in-take: March 29-30, noon to 4:00 pm

•  Exhibition on view: April 2 - 26, 2020

•  Opening Reception: April 4, 2020,  1 - 4 pm

•  Artwork pick-up: April 26 after 4:00 PM or April 27,  Noon - 4 pm



Theme: Springtime Gray and BrightThis show will feature artworks that celebrate the many experiences of Spring. Media categories are painting, drawing, and printmaking.


Eligibility: Limited to regional artists, 18 years and older, living in the SF Bay Area. Submissions must be original work of the artist. Entries must be hand-delivered and picked up. All exhibited work must be for sale and not previously displayed in this gallery.


Size and Weight limits: Each piece must be manageable by one Curator. The maximum size for 2D work is 24”x 36”. Larger sizes may be accepted with prior approval of the Curator.

All 2-D artwork must be gallery-ready, with hanging wire on back. Gallery wrapped canvas must be a minimum of 1" in depth. Use plexi-glass, not glass, in larger framed pieces.



Members:$40 for your initial 3 entries and $10 for each entry thereafter up to 5 total

Non-Members: $50 for your initial 3 entries and $10 for each entry thereafter up to 5 total

Merit Awards: $150 for first, $100 for second, and $50 for third place. Jane Ferguson will review  the installed work and choose the winners. She will attend the opening reception to present awards and discuss the work as prizes are given out.


Exhibition Details: Juried Shows are open to members and non-members alike, with artists representing many communities in the Bay Area. The Opening Reception is usually attended by about 150. 

It’s always a great party, with food and beverages. Many sales occur here where buyers can meet the artists.

Sales: The Gallery is open daily from noon to 5 pm. Closed Tuesday and Wednesday. Gallery hosts complete sales transactions. Artists receive 70% of the sales price for sold work. CAL collects sales tax, and retains a 30% commission to support exhibitions, operations, and educational programs of the nonprofit Coastal Arts League.


Location: Coastal Arts League Gallery, Zaballa Square, 300 Main St. Half Moon Bay, CA, in a ground floor gallery with north-facing windows.  The gallery is open daily from noon to 5:00 pm. Closed Tuesday and Wednesday.


Lodging/Transportation: Half Moon Bay is 25 miles south of San Francisco at the intersection of Highway 1 and SR 92.  The Gallery is on Main St. where the historic Zaballa House Inn is open to overnight guests. Coastal Arts Gallery guests should ask for the corporate rate when making reservations.

 By entering you are verifying the submitted work is yours, that you have the rights to the images or artwork.  All Rights to submitted images remain the property of the Artist.


 You are granting The Coastal Arts League (CAL) the right to use images of entered work for the website and for show promotion.


All exhibited work must be for sale. Artists receive 70% of the sales price for sold work. CAL collects sales tax, and retains a 30% commission to support exhibitions, operations, and educational programs of the nonprofit Coastal Arts League.

The Coastal Arts League accepts no liability for loss or damage to pieces in the show. Security cameras provide protection from theft.
