PROSPECTUS

Please join Cecil Byrne Gallery in Charleston, SC,  for our 1st annual juried exhibition of works depicting outdoor scenes by local national artists in a wide array of media. Amateur artists are welcome to enter. All artwork will be judged equally regardless of professional status.

Charleston is the host of the world renowned Spoleto and Piccolo Spoleto Festival. This show at Cecil Byrne Gallery will run during the same time period as the Piccolo Spoleto Art Festival.

Cecilia Murray, award-winning painter and owner of Cecil Byrne Gallery, will be this year’s juror.

Deadline for entry forms: APRIL 21, 2015
Email Notification of Acceptance: APRIL 27, 2015
Hand Delivery of Works: MAY 17-18 between 11am-4pm. Shipped entries arrive between May 13- 18 via UPS or FEDEX with return ship label inside the box. Entries that arrive without a return ship label will not be accepted.  Accepted entries will be charged a $15 handling fee. Please include a check payable to Cecil Byrne Gallery for $15 and place inside the shipping box along with your return ship label.
Exhibition Opens to Public: May 22, 2015
Opening Reception: June 5,  6:00-8:00pm (awards at 7pm)
Exhibit Closes: June 7, 2015, 4:00pm

JUROR OF SELECTION
Cecilia A. Murray
Award winning artist Cecilia A. Murray earned her BFA from Parson’s School of Design in New York City in 1986. Cecilia was awarded Best in Show in Kennebunkport, Maine in 2011.  Cecilia has won several additional awards, including an honorable mention at the Duxbury Art Complex Museum for “My Blue Heaven’ in 2012, the Wallis Award for ‘Homecoming’ in Portsmouth, NH, in 2013, and first place for pastel for ‘Radiance II’ in 2013 at the South Shore Arts Center in Cohasset, MA.

Jeanne Rosier Smith
Jeanne Rosier Smith PSA, IAPS-MC is best known for her award-winning pastel seascapes including an IAPS Prix de Pastel and a Grand Prize in International Artist magazine’s 2013 Seascape competition.  She is an artist member of the Copley Society and the Salmagundi Club, a signature member of the Pastel Society of America, and teaches workshops around the country and abroad.  www.jeannesmithart.com

ARTWORK SPECIFICATIONS:
Entry must be an outdoor scene fitting the show theme of ‘Sand, Sea & Sky’. Work must be created during the last four years. Amateur artists are welcome to enter. All artwork will be judged equally regardless of professional status.

All 2-D artworks such as, but not limited to, painting, drawing, mixed media, printmaking and photography will be considered. The maximum allowed size is 24” x 36” not including the frame. Photographs must be printed on photo or fine art paper – they may not be printed on canvas or mounted to panels. Works must be framed to Cecil Byrne Gallery specifications (see framing requirements below), properly wired and ready to hang. The juror reserves the right to disqualify any work not suitably presented or that varies from the submitted image. All works must be for sale. Center of wire on back of frame must be 3” from top of frame. For small works (under 12” framed) wire must be 2” from top of frame.

Sales commission: 50% artist 50% Cecil Byrne Gallery. Artists with sold work will be issued a check for the sale within 30 days of the close of the exhibition.

FRAMING REQUIREMENTS:
Oils, acrylics & mixed media can be unframed if gallery wrapped edges are painted, but other two-dimensional work must be framed. No Photography on canvas. All 2D work must be properly & securely wired and ready to hang. Simple frames are preferred, acceptable colors: silver, gold, black & any dark wood. Mats: neutral white, acid free (like Bainbridge 8655), colored filets ok, and either double 4-ply or single 6 or 8-ply mats. All works under glass must use Museum Glass. 

Accepted Works:
If your work is selected for exhibition, there will be a $15 handling fee for each accepted work.

ENTRY PROCEDURE: Non-refundable Entry fee is $35 for one entry and $10 for each additional entry up to 5.  Entry fees are payable when you submit to OnlineJuriedShows.com.  All fees must be paid by the entry deadline.

PLEASE NOTE: When filling out your information while entering the show at OnlineJuried Shows.com, please be sure all information is correct – spelling, title, pricing of your artwork. All information is input by the Artist and is used by Cecil Byrne Gallery for reference, printed materials and online postings.

Diptychs and triptychs are considered one work. Works are juried by digital image only.

ENTRY IMAGE INFORMATION: Works will be juried by digital image only. Images must be sized to 1920 pixels on the longest side and at a resolution of 72 dpi. No mat, frame, or extraneous material should appear other than your artwork.

Images are used for jurying and web and printed materials.

LIABILITY: All work will be handled with great care. Neither Cecil Byrne Gallery or its representatives will accept responsibility for loss or damage of work. Artists are responsible for safety of work during transit to and from the gallery. Submission by an artist will indicate agreement by the artist to these conditions. Artist agrees that all work submitted is original.
