QUALIFICATIONS

All current members of the California Art Club.

SUBJECT MATTER

On February 18, 2021, the Mars 2020 spacecraft – Perseverance – will land at Jezero Crater on the red planet. To celebrate this monumental event, the California Art Club will unveil on that day the online exhibition Mars: An Artistic Mission.

This exhibition will span fact, fiction and fantasy, as we encourage you to create works inspired by public domain images of Mars, as well as literature – including science fiction – about our neighboring planet.

Please submit images either focusing on Martian landscapes or taking inspiration from Mars. Artwork exploring outer space from a more imaginative or fantastical standpoint is also welcome. Get creative!

MEDIUM & DIMENSIONS

Paintings in oil, watercolor, pastel or acrylic

Sculptures in permanent materials such as bronze, marble, terra cotta, fiberglass, or wood

COMMISSION

60% Artist; 40% CAC

HOW TO APPLY

Submit all artwork through Online Juried Shows for Mars: An Artistic Mission. There is a limit of four entries.

ENTRY FEE

Please pay by credit card through Online Juried Shows. For $35, you may submit up to 2 images. Additional images are $10 each.

NOTIFICATIONS

Notifications will be sent to artists via email on or around Monday, January 25, 2021.

ARTWORK DROP-OFF /PICK-UP

This exhibition is entirely virtual, so there is no need to deliver your work to any location.

Please note that there is a possibility for physical satellite displays, more information will be forthcoming.

PREPARING PAINTINGS

Please label the back of paintings with your name, title of the artwork, medium, dimensions and price.

SHIPPING and SALES

If a work sells, the collector will assume shipping costs. Artists will be responsible for preparing and packaging artwork for shipment. The CAC will handle the sale of the artwork, itself, and any associated tax.
