The annual Green Mountain Watercolor Exhibition is presented with the purpose of promoting the art of painting in watercolor.
JUDGE OF AWARDS
Tim Saternow
Tim Saternow is one of America’s foremost watercolor artists painting both the urban and rural landscapes. He is a frequent award winner, a signature member of the AWS and served on the Jury of Awards for the 2020 American Watercolor Society Exhibition.
He is a Fellow of the Clark Hulings Fund for Visual Artists.
Tim will be conducting a workshop June 11-13, 2021 as part of the GMWE.

ELIGIBILITY
The exhibition is open to all artists working in watercolor on paper, synthetic paper or watercolor board with transparent and opaque watercolors, gouache or water soluble inks
…no acrylic, casein, egg tempera, permanent inks, pastels, colored pencil, collage or any form of pre-print or reproductions
…must be artist’s original work from sources attributed to the artist and executed solely by the artist
AWARDS
Selections for the exhibition will be made from JPEG images by a panel of jurors holding signature membership in watercolor societies. Awards will be made by the judge of awards from delivered work once the exhibition is hung.
Value of monetary and merchandise awards to be determined ($6000+ and merchandise awards)
PRESENTATION
All submitted work must meet the following requirements:
…maximum frame size is 45 inches in any direction
…work must be matted in white or neutral color mat, colored liners permitted
…work must be protected by glass (hand delivered) or plexiglass (shipped work)
…varnished work must be placed under glass or plexiglass
…work must be framed with appropriate wire for hanging – no sawtooth or loop hangers
…work misrepresented by the submitted images may be rejected
Entry grants Mad River Valley Arts permission to reproduce work for records and promotional purposes. Neither Mad River Valley Arts, its representatives or individuals working with Mad River Valley Arts will be responsible for damage or loss whatever the cause. Artists are responsible for providing their own insurance for accepted work.
DELIVERY
Instructions for hand delivery or shipping of work will be provided upon acceptance into the exhibition.
Withdrawing work, once accepted, will result in refusal for entry for the consecutive two years.
SALES
All work must be for sale.
Changes in image or price are not permitted following acceptance.
Due to the nature of the exhibit location and the large tourist clientele, sold work may be removed from the exhibition space. A high quality print will be placed in the location of the original.
A commission of 40% will be retained by Mad River Valley Arts on all sold work. Payment to artists will be made within 30 days of the close of the exhibition.

A single entry fee of $35.00 applies for either 1 or 2 paintings - both may be accepted. A $10.00 rebate will be given to members of Mad River Valley Arts - membership at www.madrivervalleyarts.org)
