2021 ANNUAL NATIONAL OPEN JURIED EXHIBITION
at the Arts Center East

ELIGIBILITY
PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY.
- Up to three images may be submitted.
- Original work in painting, mixed media, drawing, collage, printmaking, fiber art, photography, sculpture are eligible.
- Photo mechanical reproductions of original work (Giclee prints) are not eligible.
- All entries must be original artwork. By entering the CWA exhibit, you agree that this work is not that of other artists or for which you do not hold the copyright.
- CWA reserves the right to refuse any artwork for suspected copyright infringement. Any accepted work that violates copyright will be withdrawn from the exhibition immediately. Should such an entry be awarded a prize, the prize money must be returned at once.
- Hand-delivered or shipped two-dimensional work must be no larger than 42” including the frame, in either direction and a maximum weight of 35 lbs.
- Work submitted must not have been shown in any previous CWA shows and must have been completed within the last three years.
- Sculpture (3D) must weigh less than 60 lbs. Artwork must be shipped installation-ready.
- CWA and the Arts Center East staff reserve the right to remove from consideration any artwork that does not meet these criteria.
ACCEPTED WORK
All work must be thoroughly dry, ready to hang and wired. No clip frames will be accepted. All other frames must be of sound construction. No saw-tooth hangers, tacks or pins are allowed. Please note: Work will not be accepted if these requirements are not met.
ENTRY FEES*
Each artist may submit up to 3 works.
CWA Members: (2021 dues must be paid in full): First entry is $25, second/third entry $10 each
CWA Non-Members: First entry: $35, second/third entry: $15 each
Please note: CWA has an elected membership process once a year (September).

JUROR OF SELECTION AND AWARDS
Susan Fisher, currently the Executive Director of the Mystic Museum of Art in Mystic, CT, formerly served as Executive Director and Curator of the Taos Art Museum in Taos, New Mexico. She has an MFA in painting and worked for many years as an active artist in Philadelphia, PA. She studied in Paris, art history at the Sorbonne, and museum studies at the Ecole de Louvre.
ONLINE REGISTRATION DEADLINE
Wednesday, July 7, 2021 before midnight. Enter up to three images online at www.onlinejuriedshows. com. For best results, make sure your image is 1920 pixels @ 72 dpi on the longest side. Images should be in JPEG format, RGB color.

SALES
Art Center East will take 30 percent Commission. CWA takes NO commission. Artwork does not have to be for sale.
AWARDS
$2000 will be awarded in cash prizes:
1st - $700
2nd - $400
3rd - $200
*Alternative Media Award - $400
Juror Award - $100, Council Award - $100, President’s Award - $100
* Category Criteria- this award should be awarded to an exceptional work of of bas relief or 3-D fine art. The work should be created using any of the following mediums or combination of:
ceramic, glass, fiber, wood, metal, found objects, and other mixed media.
EXHIBITION DETAILS
Connecticut Women Artists was founded in 1929 when 13 women artists exhibited at the Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford. Since exhibition opportunities were rare for women at that time, these women began a society of female artists. One of this country’s oldest continuing art organizations for women, CWA now has over 150 elected members.
CALENDAR – Time-line of events
1. Deadline for entry: work must be submitted to OnlineJuriedShows.com by Wed., July 7 before Midnight.
2. Juror selections available online (www.onlinejuriedshows.com) by Monday, July 19, 2021.
3. All selected work must be accompanied by the artist’s signed disclaimer when dropped off or shipped.
4. Delivery of shipped artwork: Selected work must arrive between Monday, August 9th to Thursday, August 12th.
5. Drop off of artwork: Friday, August 13, 6-8 pm, and Saturday, August 14, 1-3 pm.
6. Opening Reception and Award Ceremony: Saturday, August 21, 1-3 pm.
7. Pickup of artwork: Friday, September 10, 6-8 pm and Saturday, September 11, 1-3 pm.
SHIPPING INSTRUCTIONS (for selected work only) and Disclaimer:
If it is necessary for you to ship your work, please comply with the guidelines below:
1. Shipping address information will be emailed with notification of acceptance.
2. DO NOT SHIP WORK TO ARTS CENTER EAST. Please Note: any work shipped to the Arts Center East will be refused and returned to sender. Fees will not be refunded if your work misses the show due date or is shipped to the wrong place.
3. Artwork must be shipped “installation ready.”
4. Selected artwork must be shipped UPS or FedEx only. No COD shipments will be accepted.
5. Artist will be responsible for ALL shipping expenses. A pre-paid shipping label for the return of your work MUST be included for your work to be hung in show.
6. Artist is responsible for any shipping insurance related to their work while in transit to/from the shipping address. *Shipping address to be announced. CWA and the receiving location are NOT responsible for delays or damages.
7. CWA and Arts Center East are not responsible for any work that is lost or damaged.
8. All work shipped must be shipped securely and safely, such as Airfloat StrongBoxTM (highly recommended) or similar re-useable professional packing box.
9. Packing materials must be easy to unpack and re-use to re-pack and return work to the artist at the conclusion of the exhibition. ABSOLUTELY NO PACKING PEANUTS PLEASE.
10. ALL SHIPMENTS MUST BE RECEIVED BETWEEN August 9-12, 2021. Late deliveries or damaged work will not be accepted. The return address for shipped work must be included. Late or damaged work will be returned.

CWA, Inc, its officers or agents and Arts Center East assume no responsibility for loss or damage of any kind. Submission of all artwork, framing, and other materials is at the sole risk of the artist. CWA reserves the right to photograph or use submitted images for publicity. The show committee reserves the right to reject work not accurately represented by the images submitted. Artist’s signature indicates compliance with all conditions herein stated. No substitutions.
Work cannot be picked up or removed until after the show ends. CWA and Arts Center East will not be responsible for loss or damage of unclaimed art after Sunday, September 27 by 3 pm. Insurance is the responsibility of each artist. Entry by artist confirms compliance with all conditions herein stated. Unclaimed artwork will be held in storage by CWA at the cost of $5 per day to be paid by the artist. After 30 days this artwork will become the property of CWA.

Continue straight through the intersection to Center Road, Arts Center East is located on your right.
From I-84 West:
Take Exit 66, Turn right off the exit onto State Route 542, Turn left on to Bolton Road.
Continue straight through the intersection to Center Road, Arts Center East is located on your right.
Parking is located behind the building. Addition parking is available at the Congregational Church just across the street and at Center Road School.

As per prospectus, all entries MUST be picked up on either Friday, September 10 , 6-8 pm or Saturday, September 11 from 1-3 p.m. Any entries left after 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 11, CWA and Arts Center East will not be responsible for loss or damage. Unclaimed artwork will be held in storage by CWA at the cost of $5 per day to be paid by the artist and after 30 days this artwork will become the property of CWA.
