TOP 60 Juror: Jeff Horn

https://www.hornart.com

STATEMENT

SOCALPAPA is honored that Jeff Horn will be the Juror and Judge of Awards for this year’s show.  Jeff is Professor Emeritus of Drawing and Painting, Irvine Valley College and our SOCALPAPA roots grew from Jeff’s classes.

"I prefer to paint directly from nature and I love being outdoors where I can see, hear, feel, smell and even taste the scene around me.

For me, the painting is a translation of nature and my experience of it. If I am successful, I take the viewer with me to feel the moment.

I believe good painting is not a slavish copy of visual details, but an emotional response to a moment in nature."

Newport Bay Conservancy (NBC) is focused exclusively on the protection and preservation of Upper Newport Bay – one of the most precious natural resources in Southern California. Among the very few remaining, undeveloped wetlands on the California coast located in Orange County, Upper Newport Bay is recognized as a globally significant hotspot of biodiversity. NBC works to sustain an amazing diversity of marine, plant and animal life in its stewardship of the Bay.
