Oceanside Theater Company's (OTC) Brooks Theater Gallery is located in the lobby of the Brooks Theater, just blocks from Oceanside Museum of Art in Downtown Oceanside. You can learn more here: oceansidetheatre.org

The mission of Oceanside Theater Company is to produce professional theatrical productions for the entertainment and enrichment of our community; to present educational opportunities in the arts for childrenand adults; and to provide a venue for expansion of artistic endeavors in North San Diego County.

DESCRIPTION

This is a call to artists who are members of OMA Artist Alliance to submit entries for A Breath of Fresh Air, a plein air exhibition to take place at the Brooks Theater Gallery in downtown Oceanside.

Oceanside is one of only 14 designated California Cultural Districts and home to an eclectic, emerging art scene. OMA seeks to activate creativity in the community through partnerships with local organizations such as the historical Brooks Theatre in order to support our partners in celebrating art and creative expression.

Artwork will be juried and exhibition layout designed solely by Carol Naegele, Brooks Theater Gallery Curator.

This is a plein air exhibition; therefore, all artwork is to have been created outdoors on location. Artists are encouraged to submit work created during OMA’sPlein Air Festival, taking place July 24-30; however, this is not a requirement.

 

EXHIBIT DATES

September 2 through October 22, 2021

Artist reception Friday, September 3 during First Friday Art Walk, 6:00-8:00pm.

The gallery will be open to the public each Sunday 1:00–4:00pm throughout the run of the exhibition. Additional events: September 16–17 Oceanside Culture Fest; October 1 First Friday Art Walk.

 

ART DROPOFF

Wednesday September 1, 2021, 10:00am–5:00pm

 

ART PICKUP

Saturday October 23, 2021, 10:00am–5:00pm

 

ENTRY FEE

$20 for up to 3 images, $10 for each thereafter

Thank you for being a part of OMA. Your submission fees (less Online Juried Shows listing fees) and membership dues go toward supporting the museum’s exhibitions and educational programming.

 

ELIGIBILITY

Artists must be current OMA member with the Artist Alliance affiliate membership. Artists who are not members of the OMA Artist Alliance but are interested in participating in this event must become members of OMA at any level with the Artist Alliance add-on affiliate membership before submitting artwork for consideration. Details on how to join can be found in this prospectus.

 

OMA Artist Alliance can be joined by one of the following methods:

ARTWORK DETAILS

Original artwork in the plein air genre; any style or medium will be considered. Prints/giclees are not allowed.

Maximum dimensions: 60” high x 48” wide. Maximum 4 inches deep as per ADA compliance.

All artwork must be wired and ready to hang, with a label on the back of each piece listing the artist's name and the title, dimensions (without frame), medium, and sales price.

A maximum of two artworks per artist will be selected.

Artwork requiring special or unusual lighting, electricity, or unusual methods of installation cannot be accommodated.

 

SALES/

COMMISSION

Artwork will be available for sale unless specified as NFS during submission.

Brooks Theater will notify artists of interested parties; artists will conduct transactions directly with collectors.

8% of the proceeds of sales are to go to Oceanside Theater Company; OMA requests a 20% donation from sales.

Keep in mind, the quality of the photography of your artwork may affect whether your artwork will be selected. Ensure your artwork is photographed in good lighting with a steady camera. CONDITIONS

By submitting images, the entrant warrants that they created each of the artworks submitted and that they possess all legal rights to them. The entrant agrees that all submitted images selected by the juror may be used for marketing and promotional purposes related to the event.By providing the images and other information through this entry, the entrant gives permission for OMA, OMA Artist Alliance, Brooks Theater, and Oceanside Theatre Company to use images of accepted artwork for promotion, reference, printed materials and online postings related to this exhibit as well as in future advertising. All images used by OMA, OMA Artist Alliance, Brooks Theater, and Oceanside Theatre Company shall be credited to the artist. Copyright and all other rights remain that of the artist.
