2022 Spring Online Juried Show

AWA Spring Online Competition

Application Dates: February 22 – April 26, 2022

ABOUT THE ONLINE SHOW

This is American Women Artists’ annual online juried competition. This year it is open to all levels of AWA membership, with competition within and across categories. In addition to over $20,000 in monetary and merchandise awards - including a $2,500 cash Grand Prize award - approximately 120 works selected will appear on AWA’s online gallery for a full year, be featured in our monthly E- newsletters, and promoted through AWA’s social media channels. AWA is dedicated to providing professional opportunities for women in the visual fine arts.               Awards

·      Grand Prize Overall $2,500 cash award plus merchandise awards

·      Second Prize Overall $1,750 cash award and merchandise/sponsor award

·      Third Prize Overall $1,500 cash award and merchandise/sponsor award

·      (4) First Prize Awards by AWA Membership Category $1,000 cash each and a merch award for first place in Associates/Associate with Distinction/Signature/Master Signature levels.

·      (4) Outstanding Achievement Awards (Still Life, Landscape, Figurative, and Sculpture) $250 cash award and merchandise/sponsor award

·      (4) Award of Merit $100 cash winners

ELIGIBILITY

Open to all AWA Members. Pieces can be representational or non-objective/abstract works either 2D or 3D. Applicants must be AWA Members of current standing with dues paid or renewed for 2022. If 2022 dues are not paid by April 26, the applicant’s work will not be considered. If you are unsure whether you have paid your 2022 dues or which membership level you are, please email: membership@americanwomenartists.org.

ENTRY RULES

1.                     The 2022 AWA Spring Online Show is open to all AWA Members in good standing.

2.                     Entries may be representational or abstract work(s): drawing, painting, mixed media, as well as sculpture.

3.                     Work(s) must be original. 2D works must have been completed within the last two years. There is no required timeframe for 3D works. Works do not have to be for sale. Sold works may be submitted. Enter NFS in the entry form.

4.                     Applications may be submitted from February 22 – April 26, 2022, 5 pm Central Time, finalists will be announced by May 10.

5.                     As this is an online show, there is no size restriction on work(s) submitted.

6.                     All work(s) entered must not have been accepted for a previous AWA national juried competition or online juried show.

7.                     Acceptable mediums for sculpture: cast metal, fabricated metal, stone, glass, wood, and any fired permanent medium such as terra cotta, stoneware, porcelain, earthenware.

8.                     Acceptable mediums for painting: oil, acrylic, water media, pastel, egg tempera, encaustic, mixed mediums, batik.

9.                     Acceptable mediums for drawing: conte crayon, colored pencil, graphite, pen & ink, scratchboard, and original hand-pulled prints.

10.            Not acceptable mediums include craft, jewelry, fiber, fabric, photography, video, digital prints, or any work containing computer generated elements of any kind.

11.            Mixed Media is acceptable using above materials.

12.            Maximum entries: three (3)

13.            Maximum of one (1) piece of artwork per accepted artist will be juried into the online show.

14.            By submitting images to this juried opportunity, you understand and agree that accepted images will be displayed on AWA website, Facebook page, and other social and/or print media. Artists retain copyright to their image(s).

15.            By entering this exhibition, you agree that you have read and will abide by all rules outlined in this prospectus.

16.            All membership and jury fees are non-refundable.

APPLICATION

The Spring Online Juried Show application process will begin February 22 and close on April 26, 2022. Finalists will be announced no later than May 10, 2022. Entry form must be filled out in its entirety. List sizes up to the nearest inch. Submitted images must not include matting or frame. Crop the photos to include only the artwork. Be sure your images are right-side-up. 3-D works are allowed to submit multiples images to show different views of artwork.

Before uploading your images, make sure they are 72 dpi and a maximum size of 1920 pixels on the longest side, and no smaller than 800 pixels on the longest side. Images should be in JPEG format, sRGB color space, and less than 4 mb. Each 3-D work submitted can have up to two alternate views uploaded.

$45.00 for up to three images.

SELECTION PANEL & JUROR OF AWARDS

Panels of jurors representing various professional roles in the art world will choose finalists and award winners.
