Meet our Juror:    Dr. Jane Steelman

Born in Winston-Salem, NC, Jane D. Steelman worked toward a degree in Art at Appalachian State University. She studied under Bill Dunlap in drawing and painting as well as Clyde Owen in Ceramics. She is certified in art education for K-12 and taught high school Advanced Digital Photography and AP Art History. She now teaches private art lessons in her home studio. Dr. Steelman currently serves as North Carolina Pastel Society.

 

Dr. Steelman works in various media including pastels, charcoal, acrylic, oils, alcohol inks and stained glass. She enjoys the vibrant colors found in alcohol inks and stained glass and the blending qualities of pastel and oils. Her work varies from photorealistic charcoals and pastels to abstract landscapes in acrylics and alcohol inks. Dr. Steelman’s work can be found in a myriad of public and private art collections and has been seen in numerous exhibitions; local, state and international.

ELIGIBILITY AND REQUIREMENTS

          Artists must be at least 18 years old and residents of North Carolina.

            Size Restrictions:

                        2D work must be NO LARGER THAN 13 X 13" on any side, including mat and frame. 

                        3D work must be NO LARGER THAN 12 X 12” in any dimension.

            All work must be for sale.

 

HOW TO ENTER:  Use our online form to submit your entries and pay with your Paypal account or your credit card by March 1, 2021.

      The non-refundable fee is $35 for submissions of either 1 or 2 pieces. 

 

 

      PLEASE NOTE:  While up to two submission pieces can be entered for consideration, only ONE (1) submission can be juried in.                                                          

 

 

CRITERIA FOR ENTRIES:

 

·       Entries are to be in JPG format.

·       The total size of the image should be less than 3 Megabytes.

·       No digital enhancements.

·       Show only the image without mat or frame.

·       Orient the image correctly (horizontally or vertically). 

·       CGA reserves the right to decline any accepted artwork submitted by digital entry that deviates dramatically from the original image.

·       No jewelry can be accepted.

·       Artwork must be original (no prints or copies), entirely the work of the artist and executed within the last two years.

·       Artwork done under supervision (such as a workshop or class) is not eligible.

·       Artwork must be dry and ready for display. *2D artwork must be properly prepared for installation by being professionally wired on the back (NO ALLIGATOR CLIPS OR HOOKS)  3D work must stand alone on a base provided by the gallery.

·       Gallery-wrapped canvases are acceptable but must be at least 1 inch thick.

·       On the back of your artwork write the title, artist name and price.

 

CGA reserves the right to reject any work that does not meet their standards.

                 

Jury results will be posted to the Cary Gallery of Artists website at www.carygalleryofartists.org by March 12, 2021.

 

 

 

DELIVERY & PICKUP OF ARTWORK

 

1.     Accepted entries must be delivered to Cary Gallery of Artists on March 23 or 24,11:00 - 4:30 pm.

 

2.     Hand delivery is the preferred method of delivery. Shipped work must be securely packed in a reusable container and include a prepaid UPS or FedEx shipping label or account number. If shipping, please arrange for your package to arrive on March 23 or 24. Work packed in foam packing peanuts will not be accepted. 

 

3.     Pick up unsold artwork Apr 23 or Apr 24,11:00-4:30 pm.

 

4.     Early delivery or late pick-up is discouraged due to storage limitations so please be sure to deliver and pick up your artwork within the specified time period.

 

 

COMMISSIONS, SALES, LIABILITY

 

All artwork must be for sale. Cary Gallery of Artists will retain a 40% commission on all exhibition sales. Artists whose artwork is sold during the exhibit will be notified.  Artwork must stay on display until close of exhibit.  Although reasonable care will be given to handling all works, the gallery will not be responsible for any loss or damage.
