Collage Artists of America MEMBERS ONLY EXHIBIT

                                “MIXED METAPHORS”

A VIRTUAL ON-LINE JURIED SHOW

April 1 – 30, 2022

JUROR and SELECTION OF AWARDS  ~  ROBERT BURRIDGE

Robert Burridge, a noted award-winning Industrial Designer who, after twenty-five years in the corporate world, focused his life to painting every day. Burridge attributes his success to his education from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, his stint as an adjunct professor at Cooper Union in New York City, and in 1966, his Fluxus art performances with Yoko Ono, Nam June Paik, Jim McWilliams and Charlotte Moorman.

His work hangs in permanent collections of international embassies, corporate galleries and art colleges. His solo museum exhibitions received positive attention, so he was invited to exhibit his paintings at the Smithsonian Folklife Circus Arts Festival in Washington, DC.

METAPHOR: a figure of speech that describes an object or action in a way that isn’t literally true, but helps explain an idea or make a comparison.   (e.g. The world is a stage; Laughter is the music of the soul; My kid’s room is a disaster)

MIXED METAPHOR: The use in the same expression of two or more metaphors that is incongruous or illogical when combined, as in “The president will put the ship of state on its feet.

As always, you may take the title loosely. It is meant to be a thought-starter for your work.
