Saranac Lake ArtWorks
2022 Adirondack Plein Air Festival

Prospectus - 2022 Adirondack Plein Air Festival

Exhibition Details

2022 marks the 14th anniversary of the Adirondack Plein Air Festival. Come spend a week in the historic village of Saranac Lake, located in the heart of the Adirondack Park.  Sponsored by Saranac Lake ArtWorks, come be inspired by the serene beauty which so influenced the Hudson River School of painters.  There are five days of outdoor painting to include a Nocturne Contest, a “Paint the Town” Silent Auction, a Special Preview Party, a Quick-Draw Competition, and a huge Show & Sale. Artists will have a full choice of wild mountain, lake and river landscapes, rustic lodges and farms, and historic buildings in the villages.  Forty artists will be selected to participate in the festival, along with ten alternates (in case of cancellations).

The Awards Juror will be award-winning artist Carol Douglas, of Maine, a highly recognized plein air, landscape and figure painter. Visit https://watch-me-paint.com to appreciate her works.  Carol will be offering a two-day pre-festival Plein Air workshop on Aug 13-14, 2022 (details on our website).

Covid Preparedness:  Festival event plans are subject to change. All participants will be asked to comply with current CDC and New York State guidelines for health and safety.  If we are prevented from having an in-person event due to worsening conditions, the event will be changed to a virtual Show & Sale.
