Acceptance Juror : Clark Mitchell www.cgmitchell.com Clark has been designated a Master Pastelist by the Pastel Society of America and a Distinguished Pastelist by the Pastel Society of the West Coast and earned Signature Member status with the Laguna Plein Air Painters of America. He has received numerous awards and his work is in art collections throughout the world. In 2011 his pastel won the Best of Show at the Maui Plein Air Painters Invitational. Awards Judge: Neida Bangerter www.neidab.com Neida is Director at Maui Arts &Cultural Center’s Schaefer International Gallery where she has overseen the curation and facilitation of exhibitions since 2009, presenting the contemporary and historic art of accomplished local, national, and international artists. Bangerter studied painting at the Kansas City Art Institute. As a teaching artist she has provided visual art instruction for students K-12, community organizations, and professional development for teachers both locally and nationally for over 20 years through the Kennedy Center Artistic Teaching Partners, Hawaii Art Alliance, and State Foundation on Culture and the Arts. . An artist herself, she maintains a studio and exhibits locally and has lived with her family in Kula, Hawaii for 40 years.

 

Eligibility: Show is open to any pastel artist 18 years of age or older

 

MPS Exhibition policy includes:

Original paintings only accepted

No work from copyrighted images or photographs taken by anyone other than the submitting artist

All artwork must be at least 80% soft pastel ( no oil pastel)

Work done under supervision in a workshop or class is not eligible.

 

Size and Requirements: Artwork submitted cannot be smaller than 8 inches and larger than 40 inches in any dimension (not including Frame) Accepted paintings must be identical to the digital entry. No substitutions or copies allowed. 

Before uploading your images, make sure they are smaller than 4MB, and 1920 pixels on the longest side (minimum 800 pixels on the longest side) at 72 dpi. Images must be in JPG format, and sRGB color space. If you have any trouble with your uploads, email onlinejuriedshows@gmail.com or call 888-666-1351.

 

Sales: All work must be for sale. There will be a 50% commission . Artists will be paid within 14 days of the end of the show.

Include name of artist, Address, Phone Number, e-mail, Title of Painting, Price on the back of your painting. Also, Include a bar-coded, prepaid return shipping label. Please pack work carefully and insure adequately. Artists will be notified if work is received damaged. Depending on damage, arrangements may be made to repair or reframe by a local framing company. Entry Fee: $40 for up to 3 images for current MPS members and $50 for non-members. Entry fees are non- refundable and must be paid by entry deadline. Artists may submit up to 3 images.

 

Awards: 1st place $750

2nd Place $500

3rd Place $250

2 honorable Mention awards- Pastel materials (to be announced)

MPS, its officers, volunteers and Village Gallery Lahaina shall not be held responsible for the loss and damages to paintings , frames , or digital images. MPS suggests participants carry separate insurance as provided under individual contracts with shippers. The artist grants permission to reproduce work for publicity purposes both in print and in digital galleries. Copyright will be attributed to artist.
