Specifications for Outdoors
Sculptures should be suitable for long-term, outdoor exposure, fabricated and installed in a viewer-safe manner. Sculptures should be installed in a manner that is sensitive to the natural environment.
Artists will be responsible for any maintenance required during the exhibition. Works should not exceed 10 feet in height. A 6' x 6' concrete pad will be provided, if desired.
Artwork should not be intended to be climbed upon or require much physical interaction. It should be understood that this is a city-sponsored exhibit, so the work should be thought of in terms of a small city center, rather than an art museum.
Additionally, politicized works will not be welcome.
Accepted Artworks
Only original artworks will be accepted. Artists may not withdraw accepted works or substitute accepted works.
Artwork will be delivered by the artist. All accepted entries and winners will also be displayed on the New England Sculptors Association’s website (nesculptors.org). No artwork may be removed from the virtual or physical exhibits prior to the closing of the exhibit. Images of work may be used by the City of Watertown and NESA without notifying the artist or their agent.
Works will have plaques with identifying information.
Artwork will be insured by the City of Watertown for the duration of the loan, excluding general liability for installation and de-installation
