SELECTION & AWARDS JUROR: Valerie Patterson

The juror for the twenty-fifth annual juried exhibition will be Valerie Patterson, a former member of the Adirondack Artists Guild, who recently returned to Ogdensburg, her home town. She creates highly refined watercolor paintings that explode with psychological resonance. Combining intense emotion with a proficient attention to detail, her watercolor paintings take us outside of our comfort zones and ask us to examine life’s most vital questions and concerns. Her work initiates contemplation and conversation. Born in 1963, Patterson grew up in Ogdensburg, NY. She earned degrees in both art and education, followed by careers spanning nearly 40 years of creating and teaching art. Patterson’s award-winning watercolor paintings have been exhibited extensively throughout the United States in both group and solo exhibitions.
