~ SUFFOLK ART LEAGUE ~

2023 ANNUAL JURIED EXHIBITION

DATES:  October 28 through December 1, 2023.

ACCEPTABLE WORKS: This exhibit is open to artists working in all mediums, nationwide. They must be over age 16. Artwork must not have been previously exhibited at the Suffolk Art Gallery and should have been completed within the last two years.

ENTRY FEE:  Current S.A.L. members may submit up to three works for $25. Non-members may submit up to three works for $55 and full-time student non-members for $50, which includes an individual membership. All fees are non-refundable. 

SUBMISSION OF WORKS: Applications must be submitted no later than Friday, September 14, 11:59  p.m. PST. To begin your submissions, log in and click Enter This Show. Image files must be JPG and under 4 mb. For best results, images should be 1920 pixels on the longest side (800 min) @ 72 dpi. Artists will be notified of acceptance by Sept. 29. Results will be available in your OnlineJuriedShows artist profile. Accepted work must be delivered to the Suffolk Art Gallery, 118 Bosley Ave. on Fri. Oct. 20, 1 p.m.- 5 p.m. or Sat., Oct. 21, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Works may be shipped to the Suffolk Art League, 118 Bosley Ave, Suffolk, VA 23434. They must be packaged in a reusable container with return postage included. Shipped artwork must be received no later than Saturday, Oct. 21.

PREPARATION OF WORKS:  2-Dimensional work must be framed and wired for hanging. Finished gallery wrap will also be accepted. NO SAWTOOTH HANGERS will be accepted. Pedestals will be provided for 3 -dimensional works.

SALES: S.A.L. will retain a 30% consignment on all works sold. Please include this when pricing work.

RETURN OF WORKS: Exhibited works should be picked up on Sat. Dec. 2, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. or Tues, Dec. 5 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Artwork not picked up within 30 days will become the sole property of Suffolk Art League. 

JUROR: Matt Lively earned a BFA in Sculpture from VCU in 1993 and has exhibited nationally and internationally in numerous solo, juried and group exhibitions. Having taught at VCU and the Virginia Museum Studio School, he currently operates his own classes “Painting Outside with Matt Lively”. Lively is on the board of 1708 Gallery, co-founder of the award winning collaborative environmental sculpture duo, Lively/Harper, is a contributing founding member of Ink Tank Lab, serves as Art Director of short independent films, contributing artist for documentary films, serves as organizer of community projects and involved with several, including Mending Walls and Artists of Hope. Matt Lively’s work is in collections in the U.S, Canada, Europe, Australia and China and was a recipient of the Theresa Pollak Prize for Excellence in the Arts.
