Eligibility

    • Open to regional artists, 18 years and older, living in the SF Bay Area. 
    • Submissions must be original work of the artist.   
    • Entries must be hand-delivered and picked up. 
    • All exhibited work must be for sale and not previously displayed in this gallery.

 

Prizes: Three Merit Awards: $150, $100, $50

Size and Weight limitsEach piece must be manageable by one curator.  Maximum size for 2-D work is 24”x 32”. Larger sizes may be accepted with approval of the Curator. All 2-D artwork must be gallery-ready, with hanging wire on back. Gallery wrapped canvas must be a minimum of 1" in depth. Metal prints may have manufacturer’s hangers.

Use plexiglass, not glass, in framed pieces larger than 24 x 30".  

 

Accepted work must be delivered gallery ready. Prepare 2-dimensional work with D-rings and picture wire. Label each piece (artist, title, image size, and price). 

 

Once accepted in an online show, the work should be withdrawn from other contests until the end of the show.

 

If accepted, please bring an 8.5 x 11 page with your artist’s statement and contact details, on white paper, to be included in the Book of Artists that will be on display during the show. Images of the artist and work are encouraged. You may also bring up to 10 business cards. 


Acceptable upload-ready file formats:
File Type: JPG 
File Dimensions: 1,200 pixels or greater on the longest side.
File Size: No larger than 4 MB. 
Color Profile: sRGB
Image files must be of high quality, in sharp focus and a true representation of the original art. 

Image of 2D art should include only the artwork, no frame. 

Rules of Entry:

  • By entering, you are verifying the submitted work is your original work, and that you have the rights to the images or artwork.

 

  • You are granting Coastal Arts League the right to use entered work for the website, printed lists of selected images, and for future show promotions. All rights to submitted images remain the property of the artist. 

 

  • All exhibited work must be for sale and not recently displayed in this gallery. Artists receive 70% of the sales price for sold work. CAL collects sales tax, and retains a 30% commission to support exhibitions, operations, and educational programs of the nonprofit Coastal Arts League.

 

  • The Coastal Arts League accepts no liability for loss or damage to pieces in the show.  Security cameras are installed in the galleries for protection from theft.

 

  • CAL promotes all shows through our website, www.coastside-artists.com and via email announcements to our subscribers. Artists are encouraged to share about the show and reception with family, friends, and colleagues.
