JUDGE AND JUROR:   KAREN VERNON

Karen Vernon is a very active painter.  She has painted in watercolor, oil, acrylic, and pastels since her childhood.  She has worked in watercolor for over 40 years, and her skills in this medium is demonstrated in each of her paintings which is a visual enchantment of color and light.  She is constantly seeking to interpret life around her and depicts her images in vibrant, often oversized images.

As a professional artist with a worldwide market, she has achieved notable recognition.  Karen was invited to show her work in the three year traveling museum exhibition entitled “Sea to Shining Sea”.  She was one of 47 artists selected to participate in this major project honoring  our country.  Her paintings hang in museum collections in Europe and in the United States, as well as private and corporate collections, such as the Royal Family of Saudi, Delta Airlines, Chateau de Vuilliens, the National PGA Headquarters, the Moody Gardens Resort Hotel and the Walt Disney Corporation.  She has been elected to the Birmingham, U. K. Society, Birmingham, U.K., in Who’s Who in American Art, Strathmore Who’s Who, and holds a signature membership in the Texas Watercolor Society and the Watercolor Art Society in Houston.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

· Artwork must have been created in the last 2 years.

· Must be entirely the work of the artist and not copied from another artist’s work. 

· If a photograph is used, the photograph must be taken by submitting artist or have permission from photographer.

· Artwork must not have been created under supervision in a workshop or class, in person or otherwise.

· No mixed media, photographs, digital or any other media other than soft pastels.

· Size restriction is 36 inches x 36 inches including frame.

· Artwork must be firmly framed with screw eyes or “D” rings and wired ready for hanging.  No sawtooth hangers.

· Artwork must be for sale and cannot be picked up before the show ends.

· This is a juried show and all paintings may not be accepted.

· Notifications will be sent via email no later than December 9, 2025.  Results will be available at Online Juried Shows artist’s profile. The PSST Exhibition Committee  reserves the right to reject work deemed unsuitable at the venue.

· One year ban from entering any PSST show if rules are not Followed. 

 

ENTRY FEES (non-refundable) AND REQUIREMENTS:

Member Pricing:   $45 for the first 2 images, $15 for 1 additional entry.

A total of 3 entries allowed per artist. 

Non-member pricing:  $60 for first 2 images, $15 for 1 additional entry.

Membership fees are $40 per year.

 

· Entries are made using OnlineJuriedShow only.

· Log in and click Enter This Show above or register for a new user account.

· Submit up to 3 images.

· JPEGs must not show mat, frame, etc. and must be an accurate representation of the artwork.  Photos should be cropped to Include only the artwork.  Please be sure your images are right side up.

· Images must be smaller than 4 MB, and at least 1920 pixels on the longest side @ 72 dpi.  The PSST Exhibition Committee reserves the right to reject work deemed unsuitable at the venue.

· Images should be in JPEG format, in sRGB color space.

· Digital images of your artwork should be high quality, look professional and accurately represent your work.

PAYMENTS:

The entry fee is paid via PayPal/Credit Card to Pastel Society of Southeast Texas upon submission.  No checks accepted.  All entry fees are nonrefundable and must be paid by the entry deadline.

 

SALES:

· Paintings must be for sale.

· Degallery will handle the sales and they will keep 40% commission on all art sold and artists will receive 60%.  The buyer is responsible for all shipping costs.

· There will be no substitutions of paintings during the show and no early removal of artwork.

· Prices may not be changed after submission and after submission deadline.

 

DELIVERY AND SHIPPING OF ACCEPTED ARTWORK:

· Artwork accepted into the show must be delivered to Degallery

930 N. Rosemary Dr., Bryan, TX, on January 2, 2026, 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

· For artwork mailed, paintings are to be mailed to Lynda Hughes, 15923 Clipper Pointe Dr., Cypress, TX, 77429.  Artwork must arrive at this address no later than December 31, 2025 or it will not be hung.

· There will be no handling fee for work shipped in an Airfloat Strong Box or Uline Deluxe Art Shipper.  Work shipped in other packaging will carry a $35 handling fee payable at the time of shipping. No crates will be accepted.  Styrofoam peanuts and similar loose packing materials are not allowed. Boxes that arrive unsuitable for return shipping must be replaced by artist.  Work must be shipped by commercial carrier (UPS, FedEx, DHL).  Shipped work will be returned promptly after show closes. All work must be clean, securely framed, and wired for hanging in a non-metal frame.  We recommend the use of a framer’s grade plexiglass for shipping large paintings to minimize shipping cost and risk.

· Artists are responsible for delivery or shipping sold work to buyers.

· Degallery and the Pastel Society of Southeast Texas will use all reasonable care in receiving, hanging, showing and returning work.  Neither Degallery or the Pastel Society of Southeast Texas is responsible for any damage or loss to work incurred during shipping, hanging or showing the work.  It is recommended that artists insure their own work.  Degallery reserves the right not to hang work that arrives damaged; is not properly wired for hanging; that is not equivalent to the image submitted for selection; or that otherwise does not conform to Submission Requirements.

· Damaged work will be reported to artist and, if needed, returned at the artist’s expense.

· Artwork must be picked up February 2nd or 3rd, 2026.  Art cannot be stored.
