Adirondack Artists Guild’s 28th Annual Juried Competition

 

The Adirondack Artists Guild announces its twenty-eighth annual juried competition. Entries will be accepted through OnlineJuriedShows, and the actual exhibit will be both on our website and in the Gallery. NOTE: all accepted pieces need to be hand-delivered, so please do not enter if you are unable to deliver in person. 

 

The Adirondack Artists Guild is a cooperative retail art gallery representing a diverse group of artists residing and working in the Tri-Lakes region of the Adirondack Park in northern New York. The gallery is located at 52 Main St., Saranac Lake, NY. Phone: (518) 891-2615.

DATES

 

·         Registration opens: Jan 9, 2026

·         Submission deadline: March 1, 2026

·         Notifications: March 10-11, 2026 via email and on website

·         Delivery of accepted work: March 12-14, 2026. Gallery hours are 11-5 Tuesday-Saturday and Sunday 11-3.

·         Juror selection of prize winners: March 15, 2026

·         Show opens: March 20, 2026

·         Show closes: April 18, 2026

·         Pick up of exhibited work: April 18-22, 2026

 

ELIGIBILITY

 

·         This competition is open to all living artists 18 and older.

·         Must be able to hand-deliver work to Gallery.

·         There is no specific theme.

·         Work must have been completed in the last three years.

·         Work must not have been previously exhibited at the Adirondack Artists Guild.

·         All media are acceptable, including 3D items such as ceramics, jewelry, fiber art, etc.

·         Maximum width, including frame, is 38”. 3-D work must be suitable for a small gallery.

·         All work must be original.

·         No prints of work originally done in a different medium (i.e. prints of paintings).

·         No work done in class or under supervision may be submitted.

·         AAG reserves the right to not display work that does not meet our standards for exhibition.

·         AAG reserves the right to use photos of exhibited works for publicity purposes.

 

 

ENTRY PROCEDURE

Apply and submit your images online on OnlineJuriedShows. There is advice on how to resize and rotate images. All images should be the artwork only, no frames or mats. Images should be in JPEG format. Notifications will be sent via email once the results are ready to view in your OnlineJuriedShows artist profile, and a list published on our website, www.adirondackartistsguild.com.

 

Images must be under 4 mb, and in sRGB colorspace. For best results, images should be at least 1920 pixels on the longest side @ 72 dpi.

AWARDS

 

Cash awards will be announced on the opening day of the show. All accepted works will be displayed and available for purchase (unless NFS) on the Adirondack Artists Guild’s website and in the Gallery. Prize winners will be featured on the home page. Press releases and email announcements will be sent out to publicize the exhibit.

 

EXHIBITION

 

All accepted entries will be hung in the Gallery from March 10-April 19, 2025. The opening reception and awards presentation will be Friday, March 14, from 5 - 7 pm. Refreshments provided. The event is open to the public and all artists and their families are invited to attend.

 

ENTRY FEE

 

A non-refundable entry fee of $35 for one or two works, with the submission of a third piece optional for an additional $10, must accompany entries.

 

SALES AND COMMISSION

 

The Gallery will handle all sales of artwork, retaining a 30% commission. Checks for sold pieces will be sent to artists within a few weeks of the conclusion of the exhibition.

 

SELECTION & AWARDS JUROR: Caroline Welsh

 

Caroline Mastin Welsh is an art historian, curator, and Director Emerita of the Adirondack Museum. Ms. Welsh has extensive experience in all aspects of museum planning, operations and management, specializing in art and history exhibitions. Her work in the museum profession includes positions at the Smithsonian Institution, the New York State Historical Association, the Albany Institute of History and Art in addition to the Adirondack Museum. She is currently a consultant to museums and college art galleries for exhibit development and collections management, an independent curator for history and art exhibits, and a national peer reviewer for the American Alliance of Museums. She serves or has served as a trustee or advisor for arts organizations and museums in Pennsylvania and New York State throughout her career. Saint Lawrence University awarded her the North Country Citation in 2017 for her contributions as a leader, professional and volunteer to enhance appreciation for our artistic and cultural heritage. She is an honors graduate of the Kent School and Wellesley College (Art History). She was awarded a fellowship in museum studies at the Smithsonian Institution and a fellowship in museum leadership at the Getty Leadership Institute. She has published and lectured on Adirondack Art and Artists. Ms. Welsh was a member of The Century Association in New York City, is listed in Whos Who in America, and has been or is a member of many professional or museum organizations.
