Juror: Marla Ripperda

"What is my art about? It’s about raucous joy, quiet beauty, and the humor which makes us human."

A fifth-generation Texan whose Central Texas roots trace back to 1850, Marla Ripperda is an accomplished artist working in both two and three dimensions. She began her professional career creating decorative faux finishes, murals, and custom stencils before expanding her practice to sculpture in 1995.

Ripperda opened her studio near Lake Buchanan in 2000 and has since become a respected presence in the Texas arts community. Her paintings and sculptures have been exhibited throughout the state, including at Texas State University Round Rock, the Bee Cave Arts Foundation, and the Georgetown Public Library. Her outdoor sculptures can be found in communities across Texas, including Georgetown, Round Rock, Marble Falls, Bee Cave, Salado, and Jewett.

Her solo exhibitions include Ghosts in Genealogy at the Bell County Museum, Texas Scenes at the Wedding Oak Tasting Room, and Pushing the Boundaries at the Llano Fine Arts Guild & Gallery.

Drawing inspiration from Texas landscapes, history, and everyday life, Ripperda’s work celebrates beauty, humor, and the enduring spirit of place. We are honored to welcome her as the juror for the Texas! Art Exhibition.
