Qualifications:

Open to current and active CAC members in the following categories; Signature Artist Member, Artist Member, Out-of-State Artist, and Mentorship Program Member.

Associate Artist and Student Artist Members are not eligible for consideration.

Subject:

Artists are encouraged to explore Malibu through any genre they wish, including landscapes, seascapes, urban scenes, and figurative works.

One of the most picturesque regions in the nation, Malibu’s topography ranges from the Santa Monica Mountains and canyons to the Pacific Ocean. In addition to the natural environment, Malibu offers an active and vibrant community of residents and visitors that fuel artistic creativity. From the famous surf culture to the varied wildlife, there is no shortage of inspiration!

The main gallery of the Frederick R. Weisman Museum of Art is an awe-inspiring space with a 26-foot high ceiling. We encourage artists to submit larger and more accomplished works that will better fit the impressive scale of the museum setting. To note, smaller studies done “on location” are also encouraged.

Medium and Dimensions:

Paintings in oil, watercolor, pastel or acrylic

Submit 2D works up to a maximum of 72 inches tall or wide. All paintings must be framed and ready to hang with wire backing upon arrival at the museum.

Sculptures metal, stone, wood, resin, or epoxy.

Sculptures must be able to sit comfortably on a pedestal without a bonnet.

NOTE: Shipped works will not be able to be accommodated for this exhibition. All artwork must be hand-delivered to the Frederick R. Weisman Museum of Art.

All artworks must be original. No AI, or AI reference materials, prints, giclées or digitally enhanced images will be accepted. If it is found that a work does not meet these requirements, the artwork will be disqualified from this display.

Commission:

60% Artist; 20% CAC; 20% FRW

All artwork must be available for sale

Notifications:

The Submission Deadline is Wednesday, March 10, 2027 @ 11:59 pm PST

Artists will be notified through their OnlineJuriedShows artist profile on or around Monday, March 22.

Submission Information:

Upload all artwork through OnlineJuriedShows.com for consideration to exhibit in On Location in Malibu.

The entry fee is $65 for the first image, and $15 per additional entry. There is no entry limit to this submission.

Images must be jpg, under 4MB and in sRGB colorspace.

Artwork Drop-off:

Monday, May 3 and Tuesday, May 4; 10:00 am – 4:00 pm.

Artists will need to arrange pick-up. Delivery and timeslot RSVP will be provided at a later date.

Out-of-Town Shipping:

Shipments are not accepted for this exhibition. All artists must arrange for in-person delivery, either by themselves or through a proxy.
