CURATOR/JUROR OF SELECTIONS AND AWARDS
Kathi Flood

ABOUT THE JUROR:

Kathi Flood has been active in the Los Angeles visual arts community for half a century, serving as artist, curator, educator, and activist.  She has exhibited her etching collage wallworks, assemblages, and installations in 350 gallery shows in the U.S. and Europe. Her ‘guerrilla sociology’ categorizes and comments on urban behavior, telling stories of bloated consumerist values, driving habits, political issues, and the struggle to remain expressive in this age of electronic screens. She has been an art educator for secondary and university levels for 30 years, specializing in Secondary Art Teacher Training, Drawing, and Murals. She received National Board Certification, two BRAVO nominations, and Apple Award, and a Teacher of the Year Award. She has participated in 7,368 art critiques and has employed many sparkling adjectives.  Flood has published a creative writing book, Hot Words, and a solo CD of her spoken word stories, called Rocky Road Peep Show and Paperhangers Directory Point-of-Purchase Dreams.
